If they can get this info out of Tesco how safe is the clubcard info? That's got quite a profile on customers habits.

I don't want it leaked onto the internet how many cans of value beans I eat a week, and I'm sure none of you want your tissue consumption advertised.

I wonder if they outsourced any of it. Some documentary a couple years ago had a guy in undercover filming being offered bulk customer details from call centres..

Well I suppose there are two ways this could happen? Either a hack live to accounts which sounds like gross incompetence and very unlikely or, and this sounds more likely, a leak of customer details enough to do lots of online transactions? Like the name, address, post code, card numbers (perhaps with the magic 3 digits on the back). Maybe guy walked out of the office with it on a USB stick, a sort of Tesco Value Snowdon LaughWink

They only have 136k accounts and 40k of them were attacked, so looks like not only an inside job, but also shocking security.  I would imagine that the FCA fine will be huge in relation to their size, they might even order them to shut down.

If they've leaked your personal info like name/address/birthday maybe even password questions it might not be over.
That they've leaked the customer info, that's just a total guess of course but a reasonable one.
That seems to be the normal thing when these big corporations get done over.

136k accounts, and many will be inactive, and 40k of them hit? That's .. a very high %.

Says internet hack

I got a Tesco shopping account i might say my loaf never came last week or maybe a few of the more expensive items like tinned peas and carrots but not sure they would buy it and also the delivery guy looked quite rough so if he got wind would he come back for a quiet word?

if theyve got my name, address and birthday there really is no excuse for not getting a card this year.

its a complete back door job, not individual passwords.  Someone has a script just going through accounts and transferring out money.
