I have said this before and will say again. Businesses don't have a religion. Their purpose is to make money. You take off the halal label and you'll see the difference. They suit their product to the demographics. If they stop putting halal they'll go out of business soon and guess who will take over the market? Then you'll be complaining about them.

And if you look at the percentage of muslims under 5 years of age, you'll realize the halal label is not going anywhere.

One day all meat here will be halal. It's either cruelty to animals or it isn't, will the RSPCA just have to continue looking the other way?

" We can answer these points using the minority rule. Yes, an intolerant minority can control and destroy democracy. Actually, as we saw, it will eventually destroy our world.
So, we need to be more than intolerant with some intolerant minorities. It is not permissible to use “American values” or “Western principles” in treating intolerant Salafism (which denies other peoples’ right to have their own religion). The West is currently in the process of committing suicide."

Here in oz businesses pay to have their products halal certified. It's all about money as usual. Some of these products have got nothing to do with meat. Eg Nestle coffee.

Not far from here it is common for people to dispatch their own goat/sheep in the back yard so that 90% might be a bit off.

@kamikazee I was going to mention that too. We often think halal means slaughtered meat when it actually refers to a product or food that doesn't contain any non-permissible products such as gelatine from pig or similar(only for food industry). Fact is, as stated, its a game of money and no one wants to miss out on making money just because they dont want to make a product that muslims cant buy. That is stupidity.

And while we keep producing muslim hating threads here on the forum, our fellow soldiers killed over 2 dozen civilians in Afghanistan a couple days ago. Just in case you wonder the next time why they hate us.

Why was it that we invaded Afg by the way?

Until I read the Chit Chat/Politics Forum postings, I would never have believed that we had so many white heterosexual British/Irish/European sports bettors who :

(a) Eat Halal meat, having no problems with way it is slaughtered

(b) Like the sound of the call to the Mosques in British towns

© Love the idea of having undocumented, age-unknown,  motives-unknown 'Refugees" flooding into Britain in huge numbers, and accommodating them in their own homes

(d) Don't have a problem with people burning poppies on British streets and being fined just £50 for it, even if the fine can then be paid for by a Hate Preacher subsequently (and belatedly) sent to jail on terror convictions.

Do these sorts of Sports bettors also operate in such numbers at racetracks, loudly airing such misguided opinions?

you care whether someone said a prayer before slitting an animal's throat?

the issue is not halal slaughter, it's prestunning.

as i said. 90% of halal meat is prestunned prior to slaughter. 0% kosher.

everyone seems far more concerned about the final seconds of an animal's life; less so about how well they have lived up to that point.

Sorry, I didn't get your point. I just read about both the procedures. There is hardly any difference. Both involve cutting same 3 parts with a knife. Muslims are actually less strict as their animals can be slaughtered by jews or christians and it will still be halal, as long as the method was correct(which is the same for jews and muslims) and Gods name is taken before slaughtering. Also, acording to what i know, my friends have told me they have no problem consuming meat that is kosher, even if it doesn't say halal because kosher > halal(in terms of prerequisites).

As per my knowledge, the muslims(lets say when they were in minority here) had a hard time finding halal meat here as the govts did not allow slaughter. It was then agreed as a middle ground that the animal will be stunned(gvt approved way) and since we claimed that after stunning the animal didn't feel any pain, the muslims had no difficulty in getting the alaughter part approved as the animal wasn't feeling any pain(accoding to us) anyways. hence the slaughterhouses that produce halal meat have to stun because our governments force them to. The muslim way does not involve any stunning at all and consider it animal cruelty.

Are you saying that kosher meat in Europe or UK involves only slaughter and no stunning?

By:
detraveller
When: 06 Nov 16 15:46
Stunning has been obligatory in the European Union since 1979 in order to spare animals "avoidable pain or suffering", though most member states make exceptions for religious communities.

This tells me that if muslims stun their animals, they do it because of the european law(which i was referring to in my previous post). So muslims stun only when they have to comply with the law. They'll be glad if we don't force them to stun, just like the koshers(which you say do not stun the animals).

hi detraveller,

my point is that most people with an anti-muslim agenda dress up their halal argument as one of animal welfare, when it's really no such thing.

Dhabihah prescribes that the animal must die from the cut to the throat, and the concern in the past has been that by stunning an animal, this may kill it first, and therefore the meat may be haram. As you point out, the majority of clerics have accepted that pre-stunning is fine as it's very unlikely the animal will die this way.

There is no such relaxation for Shechita.

Therefore if the concern is one of animal welfare, the Jewish rituals are far more worrying than the Islam ones.

You have to have a set of standards which apply across all religions.

As an extension, if you are really concerned about Islam, your number 1 concern should probably be faith schools and the state funding of faith schools across all religious denominations.

A 1974 Catholic church estimate of the population of East Timor was 688,711 people; in 1982 the church reported only 425,000. This led to an estimate of 200,000 people killed during the occupation, which was widely reported around the world. Other sources such as Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch also support an estimate of over 200,000 killed.

The protection of the catholic population in East Timor from mass genocide by Islamic Indonesia was partly responsible for the formation of Al Qaeda.  They were unhappy that they couldn't kill them all.
By:

Let's not start about who killed who. People kill. Thats it. We kill. They kill. They kill in the name of religion. We call it for freedom, liberation, democracy and what not.

If your purpose of posting is only to bash the muslims, i'd recommend creating a mega-thread as people do it fondly on this forum.

This country and many other countries have done some barabaric things throughout the ages, but we live in the present, and at present the threats and barbarism this world faces are due to Islam.

It shouldn't be protected (from criticism).  To do so would be crazy.
