You eat calcium rich food but your old body can't assimilate it. Stomach acid is down and you need it to absorb calcium.

You also need SILICA. Silica is the real missing component. to absorb the calcium.
Veg grown in sand. It's hard to get your hands on silica rich veg. The manufacturers don't tell you the spuds were grown in sand. It's not a selling point?
I was buying sweet potatoes from Egypt hoping they were grown in sand? But there is no way of knowing.
OATS that are fed to horses to give them shiny coats and strong bones. (good silica source)

So try adding uncooked oats to fruit yogurt. a cup a day.

Fruit yogurt is full of sugar. So it's a fail.

I'm guessing he means a very sandy soil mix but you could if they got nutrients.

Clay or sand, all soils contain silicates. Very common minerals, no need to worry on that score.

Half a cup of rolled oats, two cups of water and a handful of raisins. Simmer for two minutes and you have a nutritious breakfast with plenty of silica.

I have read that is not so, foinavon. Some agro chemicals kill the bacteria which break down the silicates so they are not absorbed by the plants, could be guff like.

yes my old man used to grow show veg and he did some of his carrots and parsnips in 75% sand as it used to encourage them to grow straighter. Yes I know very sad.

That may well be true Saddo, but it's not the fault of the soil.

Yes, that works a treat BB. I grow all my carrots and parsnips in raised beds filled 50:50 with sand and soil. Might be sad but it gets results. The raised beds also discourage carrot fly which is a welcome bonus.
