Me,my wife and two kids have it. 120 quid a month. No excess. All 'new' cancer treatments covered etc in all local hospitals if needs be. We are teachers so on a teacher scheme which might make it cheaper, not sure.
My wife will be going into a private hospital in a short while for an operation (not serious but needed)and will be like being treated in a good hotel but  way more than that, arranged in a few short weeks. It's her second, so been there before.

Worked for one of these companies ages ago

How much it cost was dependent on age/lifestyle/previous health issues

So 25 year old next to nothing

55 year old smoker with diabetes and some other issues cost quite a lot

The thing that pissed people off was when a claim was made the provider would start to take the view that what was being claimed for was a pre existing condition that the customer kept quiet hen the insurance started.

Recall one guy saying that 'it covered me for everything except illness'

Very reasonable while you are young and healthy.

It's very good having it
Things get done but
After care forget about it
Soon as you leave the building you're forgot !!
Only thing they get back to you about is paying the bills !!!

Wouldn't it be like any other insurance? You're way better off saving the premiums, then if you want to go private for anything in particular, use what you've saved to pay just for what you need on a one-off basis.

Surely better than handing the bookie, sorry the insurer, his percentage every month.

had to get private health for a year a couple of years back when going to spain for a bit.

could have used the health card for a little while but that would run out and if they found out well youd get fined and have to pay...also doesnt cover many things...so to be safe i got some.

got quoted 100 quid by bupa lol
same company owns sanitas and they quoted me 43 euros......

Have private health insurance through work -- costs about £700 iirc on which I have to pay income tax. Never used it.

Had a spell of osteopathy -- referred by GP -- but it was easier just to hand over £30 a session out of my pocket.

Had it, other half had it. Never again. Massive waste of money.
Biggest ripoff ever. So many exclusions and loads of small print.
If/when you try to claim, it is difficult and the premiums go up. You're better off saving the money and paying private should the need arise.

Many of the same doctors as NHS, working evenings and days off privately, which is partly why the NHS wait is so long.
