I hate it when the say "and you know what?" to try and sound passionate.

There's a British naval historian ruins every documentary he's on windmilling his great fat arms in front of the camera. He just can't help himself, it's like someone's told him to keep his arms down but he can't and after a few seconds of restraint off he goes. Dr Eric Grove's his name. Here he is in action:

lots of masonic stuff gets flagged up.
hand on chest, the ok thumbforefinger 666 sign. the horned salute etc. Mostly the politician's thumb up the ass sign to voters. |

They were all told to stop pointing fingers when making statements as it was seen as too aggressive.
Standard use now is to close the fist and use the thumb to point. |

Remember my old man saying "look at the way he's tilting his head slightly as if trying to talk down to you".That was about Dr David Owen in day's long before the SDP. |

I prefer the Tomasz Schafernaker type of hand gestures! |

When one comes on in a public place talking and walking slowly towards the camera gets my goat.
Words should be enough, the antics they use to try and strengthen their case only detracts from the points they are trying to make as far as I'm concerned. |

I thought it was just me that hated that!

I think walk to camera and talk is year 2 of media studies degree.
Year 1 is standing still and talking, year 3 is ... well, year 2 repeated (can be a bit tricky to master in just 1 year). Then job at BBC if you're not a white male. |

weather forecasters are the worse, I don't need you to wave your hand to show me where the West of England is tar.

Worse still if you actually live in the West Country, and need to see the forecast for there.
Bad enough having the time on the BBC graphic changing from hour to hour, so you're having to focus on the time on the right as well as the region on the left. But then the daft entertainer presenting it goes and waves their paw over the Zum/Devon/Cornwall region to spin you a yarn about what they think it's going to be like in the Smoke. |

Trump can't stop pointing up with his hand flat facing the viewer, it actually looks uncomfortable.
It's a pathetic attempt to use semiotics to bolster rhetoric, like things will improve with him etc. Piss poor tbh. I don't think I saw Cameron once do the open splayed finger gesture and want to snap each finger individually. But my absolute most hated is so predictable and happens every year. It's the opening of parliament where black rod gimp drags all the swill from the House of Commons to the House of Lords and the leaders of the parties walk over together discussing stuff, and without fail each tries to out do the other in hand gestures to make it look as though they are more informed and explaining something to the other. |

* and not want to snap his fingers (obviously)
