Who's move?

See this is still going on...

"The hijab is not oppression. We are used to it and it's one of Iran's laws and we accept it," she said.

Cry

Lets hope the civilised girls stick to their guns & boycott it

Why do they want to make their problem our problem,

If you wanna dress like that, that's your problem, but don't
expect me to dress in that out of date out of touch way and abide my barbaric
rules in 2016.

*im not one of the players btw

Freedom works both ways, the rest have the freedom to refrain from entering the competition,it may make organisers think next time before committing people to competitions in intolerant countries.

as you say treetop, if it was in the normal world would they say
you need to remove your head wear to play.

a classic example of the way this supposed religion say its our way or no way

You can not play poker unless you can be identified.

Phil Laak played in the World Series of Poker disguised as an old man.  After that they added a rule that you must be identifable.

Why would you be allowed play any game in disguise?  Impersonation?

also someone mentioned in the last thread, it leaves the game open to
cheating, someone could easily be taking instructions via an ear piece that
would be hid by the head wear.

Come on, everybody.

To be fair to Iranians it is their country so they can set the rules.

Imagine if there was a World Cup beach volleyball competition in a liberal country such as Sweden and competitors were told they would have to perform naked.

Can you imagine the outcry from Betfairians on this forum?

I for one would find it compelling viewing - even though I think it wrong for one country to impose its values on others.  ExcitedExcitedExcited

I think thats taking the Islamophobism a bit too far. You can use an ear-piece inside a headgear in a lot of other sports without anyone knowing, like cricket, olympic boxing, cycling, lacrosse, soccer(keeper), baseball, ice hockey etc etc. I am pretty sure most of these sports do not allow in-play coaching. You could argue that outside help in chess maybe more useful than say in soccer or cricket, but that's not that big an argument against hijab to be fair.

I can't even imagine what your response would have been to fencing if it was a game predominantly played in muslim areas? Would we in Europe have rejected the game because you can wear an ear-piece under your attire? or would we ask them to play naked?

Firstly they are playing in their own country. But even if a girl was playing in England, and wanted to wear a hijab or even a full face covering, you could easily have the gear checked before starting the game. If that was not possible(because the checking would have to be performed by a woman of course),  you could disquality the player and tell her to go home and play wth a hijab all they want. But to blame a religion or accuse someone of cheating because they wear a hijab is taking it a bit too far imo.

Thank you for your diversionary bullshit detraveller.

These are some of the most intellectually capable people on the planet and you think it is reasonable to force them to wrap a towel around their head to play the game they excel at but wouldn't dream of asking their male counterparts to do the same.

Pathetic.

Thanks for the reply, without talking abt what i wrote.

There have been many intellectuals who had their heads 'wrapped in a towel'. Al Khwarizmi comes to my mind. And are you telling me the sikhs can't be intellectuals because they wrap a towel around their head? Probably you need to see past your islamophobia?

I am also against forcing people to wear headscarf. I am by no means promoting it. But if you are getting pissed off at a country that asks some players to wear headscarf(in their own country), you must have a pathetic life. Do you have no other issues in life?

i think the blames with the idiots that decided to have it in Iran,

If it was held in another country they'd still be wearing their head wrap, so if
that applies to them where ever they go why shouldn't people be allowed to carry
on with their normal behaviour when visiting another country.

surely what's good for one is good for all - or are they some special breed
