it would be devalued if he won it for singing

Read his Chronicles Volume One

The man has a fantastic way with words and could easily have been a great novelist if he had bothered.

Whether or not you're a fan of his music, it's a great read imo.

Masters of War have won the Nobel Peace Prize, so I don't see the problem.

But he didn't bother becoming a great novelist, did he?

What was it that he actually did bother writing that got him the $900,000?

Can you cook and sew?
Make the flowers grow?

Maybe it all comes over a bit more profound and edgy to the Swedish ear.

Ah, but I was so much older then, I'm younger than that now

If his book writing was anything like his song lyrics then the prize was well merited.

Huge Bob Dylan fan, got all his LP's up to Slow Train Coming in 1979, would automatically go and buy a new Bob Dylan LP, but this one was just terrible. Seen him twice in concert but would never go to see him now, some of his recent concerts on YouTube are really embarrassing, his voice is shot to pieces (have a look at him singing Desolation Row at the Desert Trip last w/e). Bit surprised he got this Literature award, and can understand why some people think it was wrong to give it to him, tend to agree with first post on here

Maybe you don't know your subject matter if you stopped listening in 1979, Hound Dog? Lot of great work in the last 39 years....

^ " Lot of great work in the last 39 years...."

Some great work but patchy I'd say in last 39 years. 60s & 70s just brilliant, especially the 60's.
