what happens if i download a program that requires 1280 x 1024 screen resolution onto a laptop which 1366 x 768

want to download autodesk revit onto one of my laptops just to try out but i'm not buying a new laptop to do so, so if it's not recommended i wont bother.

I am pretty sure the software can recognise your screen resolution and adjust itself to that. If it doesn't, then the software is probably only for that screen resolution, and there might be a version for lesser resolution, or an older version.

The best thing to do is to download it and run. Dont think you need a restore point as the software simply wont run if it cant find the right resultion. It wont delete your data. At most will mess up your display after which you will need help to get the display corrected anyways. It shouldn't affect the data on your computer. In worst case, only the output on your screen.

Ive often tried playing games that are too big for my PC. It either runs a scaled down version or doesn't work, giving an error as soon as you try to run the game.
