Westwood/Pieters looking like a horror pairing right now. I know he wasn't eligible but Casey would have been a great one to have, and I'd have had Knox too.

US won about 7 holes to nil in that hour. Situation gone from tricky to disastrous

Honestly Guinness, if WW plays tomorrow, I will lose all respect for Clarke. He has no claim to a place whatsoever. I feel sorry for Pieters. Showed his true worth on his own with Rory.

Yep, fully agree, i said earlier on ere that it might cost him his place but luckily Clarkey gave him another go. Can't see him splitting them up now. Westwood shouldn't have been picked but now Clarkey has to be tough. Let's see if he is..

Strong from Clarkey. Westwood tea boy and he's split the Vikings up to support the newbies. Kaymer dropped and the Armada boys left alongside Tommyboy and the midget.
3-1 would be fantastic...

If the Americans hadn't had most of the luck this morning it could easily have been 3-1.
Onwards and upwards.. Westwood playing is a blow and i feel mightily sorry for Woods and Rafa...

Europe captain Darren Clarke on Sky Sports: "Disappointed with this afternoon's result. Hung in this morning and had a few chances this afternoon but that's the nature of the Ryder Cup.
"We're going to have to work hard tomorrow. It's been done before from a worse position. We need to believe in ourselves. There is a precedent.
"This morning we holed the putts, this afternoon the US holed the putts.

Clerkmore • September 1, 2016 4:56 PM BST The US are definitely certainties.
Westwood should have been named as vice-captain ages ago. He will be hoping to find a partner like Colsaerts in 2012 who carried him to a win. There is no chance he will stand up to the pressure as he has been dire all year when he's been in contention. If he had any honour he would stand down.
Kaymer is not the player he was either.
The Ryder Cup has always been an old pals act in Europe. Torrance, James, McGinley, Clarke, Westwood etc. Knox should have made the team for sure but he's not part of the inner circle.
I would have picked McDowell as at least he can putt and proved himself in the last two Ryder Cups.

The USA regained the Ryder Cup after powering to a 17-11 victory over Europe at Hazeltine/
An emotional Patrick Reed led from the front as the United States won the Ryder Cup for the first time since 2008, inflicting Europe's heaviest defeat for 35 years.
Clarke's selection of Pieters proved an inspired choice, but his other wild cards - Westwood and Martin Kaymer - produced just one point from seven matches and the decision to split the successful pairing of Garcia and Cabrera Bello on Saturday proved ill-fated.
