The word gets mis-used so often it means nowt any more, ZM.

I do have a good Polish friend, an honest friend at that.
He shakes his head when this topic crops up. " How can it be about race?" he asks "Anyway back in Poland we are 98% white supremacists" You are right sad do, nativism is the word the media refuse to use. |
|
By:
I know Poles and other eastern Europeans & they're all good people,
what tiny % are they talking of this supposed hate crime, They just can't let Brexit go can they |
|
By:
tbf I think that nearly everyone is disgusted when Polish people are the victims of hate crime in this country and it obviously happens with little oiks and any able bodied Brit who witnesses this sh1te should kick the sh1te out of the clueless pr1cks.
same applies to any unwarranted xenophobia. |
|
By:
The Polish people i know i get one very well with, the problem is if a person from country A has a fight with a chap from country B then the media wont ever describe it as a simple falling out or a fight, it has to be something bigger to suit their agenda.

I do think the media have some blame here, they have tended to jump on poles re immigration when they have been reluctant to discuss muslim immigration fearing the racist slur. It has been easier to raise the subject of immigration when it has been white immigrants from eastern europe. That has been partly responsible for the polish victims, all the lads I have met are very decent lad who integrate very easily here and say it has been our own fault for not checking the crooks that have come here with pre existing crime records.

I have worked with mainly Romanians, but also some Poles and Lithuanians, and they have all been normal
hard working people. They form about 10pc of the company I work for and are paid roughly the same as our British workers. They are nearly always available for evening and weekend work if required and are an important part of the company. When are the Beeb and other sections of the media going to realize that most leave voters realize that foreign workers are here to work hard and earn money, but a large proportion will probably return home in the future. The main concern is limiting the number of foreign workers (both EU and non-EU) to a manageable amount, and also to stop the EU forcing a quota of migrants onto us each year. |

Poland has a responsibility to provide jobs for its own people. If their own government and people are not prepared to invest and innovate and build new industry that is something they should address within themselves.
In the meantime if they are to come to Britain to get employment then some level of respect and gratitude should be the normal response to Britain. |

The BBC do realise that but it doesn't fit their propaganda script to demonise Farage with.
So much is quoted out of context. The BBC has conditioned people to believe that Farage and those that voted Leave blame immigrants for everything. Yet he was opposed to the EU 11 years before the 2004 Free Movement Directive and the EU Enlargement. So what was Farage challenging the EU about for 11 years before the immigration issue? The BBC will not show people the history of Farage during this period. They just want to condition people into thinking he is a racist. The problem is that the media is very good at conditioning people into holding a preconceived idea on someone. Although if you take a step back, you begin to see the bigger picture. Listen carefully and you hear all that is repeated out of context by the BBC. |
|
By:
Well said Zen, the BBC really does have to stop demonising people and promoting their own agendas instead of just reporting the news as it happens.
|
|
By:
treetop
When TMay suggested that she was not keen on the Australian points system, and with the possibility Leave voters would feel dejected from this. Farage was interviewed by the BBC and once asked about a possible backsliding by rejecting the points system, the BBC reporter said to Farage " So you lied " Farage had to explain, "No, the government is in a position to adopt the Australian points system if it wanted to...." It's this constant twisting the truth to demonise him. After all, if he was so bad, they wouldn't need to. |
|
By:
It was the same in the Referendum, with the mantra 'So you have no plan for Brexit' failing to realise that a) this was a situation that had never happened before b) Farage and UKIP have no power to execute a plan and c) the Referendum was about delivering a mandate, not a plan.
|
|
By:
Exactly Roger, the BBC keeps on doing that though.
|
|
By:
The BBC certainly conditioned a few million Remainers into believing Farage told lies in the referendum.
I have asked a few dozen Remainers to tell me one of the lies. No-one has come forth. They must realise deep down that they have been conditioned by the BBC. They have even thrown Boris's bus at me. |
|
By:
Well said Roger.
Many voted Brexit due to concerns of how the EU was developing and what it would look like in the future. One of a number of issues that was barely mentioned during the debate. As for hard/soft Brexit. More spin and smoke/mirrors. The people voted to leave the EU. Mrs May, deliver an exit, for the good of ALL voters. |

By:
There was a report on the BBC Midlands news yesterday about a Midlands car components firm being taken into administration.
Nick Owen the presenter asked a representative of the firm if Brexit was to blame? Which no doubt fits in with the BBC's agenda of blaming everything on Brexit, but has nothing to do with the company going into administration. |
|
By:
Nick Owen does himself no harm at all asking silly questions like that on the BBC.
He's the kind of presenter they like. |

Did the bbc mention Polish criminals cost the taxpayer over 40m a year to lock up as they top the list for migrants in jail in the uk ,did they mention the murders committed by pols in the UK ?
Groups of young men house sharing drinking and drug taking soon leads to problems ,did they mention the amount of crime the pols commit ? they top the list of migrant crime by a long way . No thought not . Anthony Blair aka T bliar said only the cream of the pols would be let in and they would be highly skilled workers . cheers tony |
|
By:
Vast majority of Poles are great people and hard workers.
|

Was not a big part of the Leave campaign playing on people's fears that open borders meant that we were being flooded with people from Poland, Romania, Lithuania et al coming here taking our jobs, our benefits and driving salaries down, taking up valuable resources in the NHS and schools, dividing communities, refusing to integrate etc etc? Were we not warned that Turkey were going to join and net migration would be 400,000 or 500,000 higher again(they're Nige's own words btw)?
Did I imagine that or did it actually happen? I know my best mate - a Labour supporter his whole life - voted Leave because he's seen foreign drivers steadily entering his line of work and salaries dropping. That was his reason. Not muslims, not sovereignty or democracy, not about a European army. Then we've had the most senior cop in the country coming out and telling us what we all already knew. That the vote, both the immediate build up but particularly the aftermath unleashed a spike of racial hatred, particularly against Eastern Europeans. So, not sure why the BBC are being blamed for something we know to be true. It may be unpalatable but it has been going on. |
|
By:
Its a myth. So what really is going on? there is a prejudice here held by many of the leftists and liberals against the UKs white working class.
the majority of whom voted leave. As they see it that`s why so many white working class people voted leave..because they`re racist. this prejudice was there before the ref. and this is why remainers post result sought out examples of racism `unleashed` to put them on social media. A picture of a smashed window of a spanish restuarant in Lewisham promped outrage with comments such as The rise of facism across Britain caused by Brexit! or was it just a smashed window caused by a robbery, ther had been a spate of these in the area. Lewisham police have said there is no increase in hate crime. to denigrate the white British working class and the perfectly legitimate grievances and aspirations that those who voted leave have is the real prejudice behind the myth. |
|
By:
Sorry, but isn't the left traditionally white and working class? I know I am.
|
|
By:
"That the vote, both the immediate build up but particularly the aftermath unleashed a spike of racial hatred, particularly against Eastern Europeans."
Is there actually any evidence for this? |
|
By:
yes traditionally in Britain the left was white working class, but not exclusively. many British working class people were traditionally conservative in their nature and politics.
now we no longer live in a traditional world where does the Labour support come from now, and who do they represent now? |
|
By:
now is it possible that the vote to leave the EU could lead to a fall in the levels of racial tension, is it at least as likely that this would occur and even more logical than thinking that it would lead to a rise?
yes it is possible. |
|
By:
As room 0182 says what are the figures, what are the reported incidents what are the nature of these what evidence for them how many have been taken to court how many prosecutions how many fined or sent to jail?
Have there been hundreds, thousands of white British Brexit voters fined and jailed, how many? or do people like porcupine believe it not because the evidence is there, in our courts and jails, but because he wants to believe it. |
|
By:
Google Bernard Hogan Howe race spike. I'm sure you'll get your answers there.
|
|
By:
Thanks for confirming there's no evidence.
|
|
By:
For all the correct comments above, re the negative bias the BBC have to Farage, you can equally level the same unbalanced view they give to Corbyn and the Labour Party.

Careful for those crabs down there room.

I want to know where the outrage about the massive increase in hate crimes against people in this country by foreigners. Much more serious - there have been thousands of them. Many of them physical not these 'LOOKS' or words exchanged but actual physical attacks and other very serious crimes.
And don't start me off on the racist hate crimes against white girls all over the country by our friendly cult lovers. |
