Hi PM, that reality tv star Davinia McCall going on about nookie, an Irish actor who starred in that soft porn film all the wimin drool over, Fifty Pails Of S**** or something similar and a so called comedian making jokes about stiffies.
Pardon the language PM but I`ve had a bad day ![]() |

Jamie Dornan plays a good serial killer in 'The Fall'
He should never have taken the part in Fifty Shades, poor career choice imvho. |

When you think of the caliber of the guests on Face To Face back in the day, e.g. Martin Luther King, Gilbert Harding, Otto Klemperer, Tony Hancock, Adlai Stevenson, Adam Faith, Carl Gustav Jung, etc etc and even Parkinson with the likes of Ali, Cagney, John Wayne, Orson Welles, etc, etc, one realises how standards have declined so much.

I agree Zen. He seems a decent guy and seems to have made some good films but taking part in that rubbish is astounding. Money.

I`ll check that film out Zen.

So true, ITV caters for the intellect of the consumer, however that list above of yours carries a wealth of unique characters and in the PC and social media world we now prevail in, the character has been vitiated.

'The Fall' the series mac, with Gillian Anderson ( as a not so convincing detective )
The 3rd series is due to be screened any day now. |

Great point Zen. I have the Face To Face dvds and they are wonderful and intense viewing. The Hancock one and Harding interview were very emotional. I think Harding was probably the man to weep on tv during a very emotional episode. Tony Hancock suffered badly from depression and spoke about it. He committed suicide shortly after. Full list of guests:
Lord Birkett – 4 February 1959 Bertrand Russell – 4 March 1959 Dame Edith Sitwell – 6 May 1959 Lord Boothby – 27 May 1959 Nubar Gulbenkian – 15 July 1959 Adlai Stevenson – 22 July 1959 John Huston – 1 September 1959 Carl Gustav Jung – 22 October 1959 Lord Morrison of Lambeth – 18 December 1959 King Hussein of Jordan – 1 January 1960 Lord Shawcross – 10 January 1960 Tony Hancock – 7 February 1960 Henry Moore – 21 February 1960 Dr Hastings Banda – 22 April 1960 Augustus John – 15 May 1960 Sir Roy Welensky – 29 May 1960 Stirling Moss – 12 June 1960 Evelyn Waugh – 26 June 1960 Gilbert Harding – 18 September 1960 General Von Senger – 2 October 1960 Lord Reith – 30 October 1960 Simone Signoret – 13 November 1960 Victor Gollancz – 27 November 1960 Adam Faith – 11 December 1960 Otto Klemperer – 8 January 1961 Frank Cousins – 15 October 1961 Rev Dr Martin Luther King Jr – 29 October 1961 Lord Hailsham – 12 November 1961 Jomo Kenyatta – 26 November 1961 Sir Compton Mackenzie – 7 January 1962 John Osborne – 21 January 1962 Roy Thomson, 1st Baron Thomson of Fleet – 4 February 1962 Cecil Beaton – 18 February 1962 Albert Finney – 4 March 1962 Danny Blanchflower – 18 March 1962 |

I do love a good interview Mac, generally due to the dearth of good en's these days, i have all but put them in the past, which of course they are with Face to Face.
Strange thing is, that when any of the big names snuff it, i spend hours searching for their old interviews and i become absorbed for a while. |

Simone Signoret was a great interview. Stunning woman in her day and a very good actress. Mind you, I`m biased.

'The Fall' is certainly one of the better ones Mac. Well worth catching up on, if you have time to watch it from the start.

If you want a great UK chat show you need to watch Allan Carr and Michael McIntyre as these 2 are top interviewers.

I assume you're being facetious.

It's light entertainment though isn't it? Who is available coupled with who has a book / film / single out and knows the rules of the game (i.e be light and frothy, josh with Ross / Norton / Carr, chuckle at any schoolboy innuendo and above all don't take yourself too seriously).
You'd love a bit more depth and meat from guests but you're looking in the wrong place really aren't you (we?) |

Wossy is lightweight and should be paid accordingly,he is entitled to be on TV if there is a demand but I am amazed that he gets paid so much for being so average.

Star guest Davina McCall says it all.
Never watched the show since he had Geri Haliwell on and praised her singing. Who was the poor comedian? Was he called mac or something? ![]() |
