There is an expose thread on the football forum , probably where Newsnight got their material from.

Confirms again that modern sport is a cesspit of shiftiness ,lying and cheating...tainted through and through.
'Whiter than white' ,yeah sure . |
|
By:
If I understand this correctly he's a Tour de France cyclist who gets out of breath from time to time. His team then decide to go to a doctor to request permission to take banned substances. Tainted forever. I have now no confidence in any elite athlete performances, time to let anyone take whatever they want and get on with it.

|
By:
more to the point is when brad won that tour froome was on his wheel not allowed to put his foot down and could have won at anytime, brad should have used the same gear as froome, the obvious answer is if these prescribed drugs dont help[fellow banned cyclists say there a massive advantage ]everyone should be allowed to use them if they want

what i don't understand, more than anything else, is why the UCI allowed it.
yes, he does come across as a stinking hypocrite but he's done nothing wrong, based on what the UCI and WADA considered right and wrong. doesn't asthma sort of rule you out of events requiring cardiovascular stamina anyway; it seems that the question is whether treating the "medical condition" leaves the individual in an advantageous state rather than merely bringing them up to an equal level. |

there was a guy on radio from british olympic management last weekend
he reckoned 21 % of the british olympic team in rio have asthma 10% of usa baseball league players have adhd and take ritolin i find it amazing as these folk at my school were rubbish at sport |

it was 1.01 the british team was on something

It’s not unknown for elite sports people to have asthma – Paula Radcliffe and Paul Scholes are among well-known British examples – but the good news for wheezy children wistfully dreaming of a sporting career is that research is increasingly uncovering just how many asthmatics there are in top-level sport.
In fact, tThe figures can seem astonishing. John Dickinson from Kent university, a world expert on asthma in sport, who has tested all 33 UK-based swimmers from the British Swimming squad found 70% have some form of asthma. A similar test on the cyclists from Team Sky revealed about a third are prone to a wheeze, against a national asthma rate of about 8% to 10%. more at ....https://www.theguardian.com/society/2014/dec/28/asthma-elite-athletes-study-swimmers-cyclist-eid |

conveniently, there is no gold standard for diagnosis.

As far as the UCI is concerned, Sky = major ££££; more so than any other team in the history of cycling

There is no clean sport out there.
What makes Wiggins and Sky nauseating is their pretense of leading a renewal of clean sport They should ban TUEs and life bans for first offenders. The TUEs are so skewed and abused now that to succeed, you are better off being sick. Whether its the Brits with their asthma or the Americans with their ADHD, the Russians should be congratulated on opening the whole filthy can of worms |
|
By:
I'm so green,I thought TUEs was Tuesday
![]() |
|
By:
not sure about banning TUEs. it's depends what they are for.
I thought serena williams' were pretty unremarkable. pain and inflammation treatment for short period of time. I think with Asthma you've got to have a threshold level of risk of a life threatening attack. If you're just a bit wheezy, tough titties, you picked the wrong sport. |

By:
only a complete lunatic could possibly think you can win a TDF without assistance .
Some very naive people around ,they are not really grasping this ![]() |
|
By:
It is supposed to be a banned list ......it clearly is nothing of the kind.
|
|
By:
Some stats I've read previously have estimates at about 40% of the Peleton using inhalers (ones you don't need an TUE for). Very high amount.
|
|
By:
bloke smoking 40 benson and heges a day will win tdf shortly
|
|
By:
TIME TO LET THEM ALL TAKE WHAT THEY WANT AND WE WILL SEE SOME CLASSIC RACES
THIS INCLUDES HORSERACING |
|
By:
the brown inhalers have steroids in it no wonder they all say they have asthma
they must be gassing on them all daySome people with asthma are prescribed a preventer inhaler. They contain a low dose of steroid medicine called corticosteroids |
|
By:
this is the problem now, the fact that someone can with the general publics defination of asthma can even compete in the TDF NEVER MIND WIN IT, we,ve all had workmates who can hardly climb a flight of stairs because of their asthma,no doubt if someone invents another illness that is helped by this drug lots of cyclists will suddenly be diagnosed with it

Like someone said the kids at school got all puffed out after a little run but once they hit the inhaler they did get back to playing sports again. So if a little inhaler for a kid can help think of the canisters these cheaters are using.
The brown one is only meant to be used in extreme cases i think or like 1-2 puffs a day for bad asthma but they can inject the gear right in the blood and puff canisters all day. |

this much i do know: if there's one thing wiggins regrets more than these tues, it's that smart arse comment he sent to Piers Morgan on twitter after Morgan had a go at him over not singing the National Anthem.
The twitter addicted fat headed tw@t is like a dog with a bone right now. |
|
By:
are we really surprised ?
|
|
By:
no surprise here as i think 99% are juiced as you will get the odd clean guy who says no i don't need to cheat but he will turn 30 one day and think i need that juice now.

Did Sir Bradley Wiggins' severe asthma prompt the severe amnesia which caused him to forget ever mentioning the severe asthma in his book? [ This image is no longer available. ] |

Froome racing for a contract in 2010 at 25 having had his best result as second in a 2 day race then a year later is 2nd in the Vuelta, 2nd in the TDF (because he gets called back to Wiggins) the year after then blows the TDF field apart the following year later with a performance that hasn't been seen since Lance always had me feeling a little sceptical about how clean cycling is these days.

Everyone knows Froome is on gear you don't just pick up that level overnight
