we saw it as part of a pumbing sig so that akes sense- but why would it alo appear on the front of a food shop on a farm- with food on dislay?- smoked meats??? LOST IN FRANCE in more ways than one - suer people/places tho- loved it |

smoked is fumé as in "jambon fumé" smoked ham or "saumon fumé" smoked salmon.

On the food shop you might have seen saumure or saumurage, food preserved by soaking in brine. Not common but possible.
