Seems like an explanation?

Why not make a deal with China - say they can gubb N.Korea and we won't do anything. (usa)

If they get absorbed into China.... who cares?

China wants North Korea as a buffer between China and the West. If China absorbs NK, the buffer has gone. A US/South Korean takeover of NK would have the same effect.

The only solutions, a united Korea under the influence of China or the US would lead to one of the big countries losing face, so it isn't going to happen without a war.

Considering that the americans have been without a full fledged invasion for a few years now, a new invasion is due.

We just have to make sure there are enough brainless idiots in Europe ready to back them up.

I think you have it right Gallivanter.
Also China would not want US Nuclear Missiles on their border, they would quote 'Cuba' as a justification for this.

More sanctions against N.Korea means more suffering for the N.Korean people.

I see N.Korea has made a Rare public appeal for Flood Relief...so this not well timed
because I cannot see them getting much after this

Tension in the whole China sea area as well.
We don't really need thisSad

I feel so sorry for the people of North Korea. Bad enough to have to live under a loony dictatorship, but having famine and natural disasters to cope with too, must be hell. The only upside is the fact that they are not being bombed and shot at as well.

let them sort it out themselves. no country can rely on help from the west in the future. we have seen what happens when we try to overthrow a dictator in Iraq have we not?
thats right in stead of being grateful they start murdering each other in mass suicide bombing and torture and murder.
this is what the leftists in Britain and the west are always complaining about, the US sticking its nose in. very good let millions of people live their entire lives in prison camps, tortured and starved whole families. that is on the conscience of the leftists and anti western voices.

You are a nice bloke lfc1971Happy

But we did not invade Iraq for the benefit of the people of Iraq...it was for a different reason.

Sadly in this world countries usually invade other countries for their own interests, not the countries interests they are invading.

We cannot invade N.Korea because they have Nuclear Weapons and are allied to China.

They seem to have had a somewhat tragic recent history Korea.

They were occupied by Japan from 1910 - 1945.

In the closing stages of WWII, Russia agreed to attack China to remove the Japanese.

Having done this fairly quickly, they then advanced into Korea, a quick agreement was made with the Americans to divide the country

into two halves at the 38th parallel. One half(the North) would be under Russian influence, one under American(the South).

After WWII ideological differences built up between America and the Soviet Union. Kim Il Sung who ruled N.Korea wanted to reunite the

two halves under communism.

The Korean war was fought between 1950 - 1953, With the Chinese supporting the North and The Americans the South(this included British

troops in a United Nations force. An armistice was signed in 1953, but technically the war is still in progress. No peace

treaty has been signed.

My solution would a re united Korea. With a referendum being held to decide the sort of government

all the people of Korea wanted. In the present state of the world, I cannot see this happening.Sad
