There has never been a worse opposition than the current Labour Party.

On Sky News in the space of a few days we have witnessed a shadow education secretary who is borderline illiterate and a shadow foreign secretary who cannot name the French minister for foreign affairs, somebody she claimed to be meeting in the near future.  She then tried to cover her embarrassment by playing the sexism card.  Pathetic.

Boris would have claimed his counterpart was a Monsieur Grenouille and Dermot would have been none the wiser.

Apparently there are clips with Boris not knowing either (and he's met him). From what I can see, no-one comes out of this well. It is not as if France is an obscure ex-Soviet republic with a population smaller than Sheffield.

That said, where I do agree with Thornberry is that this "pub quiz" style of interviewing does not really advance the political process. Who cares if MPs know the price of a pint of milk?

if they are going to meet him you would expect them be briefed about him.

not only his name but, perhaps,  a few interests so a conversation can be struck.

who knows, it may come in useful.

The point is, Boris would not have been able call his interviewer pathetic names ending in ist or phobe.

Boris gains support by being able to laugh at himself.

Shadow Foreign Secretary Emily Thornberry didn’t hold back in her damning indictment of David Cameron’s “legacy of shame” in Libya. Thornberry says Cameron “repeated all the major mistakes” of Iraq, blasts that “the warnings of experts in the region were ignored” and claims there was a “hidden goal of regime change for which there was no legal basis”. She concludes that intervention in Libya was “deeply reckless and complacent”. Pub quiz question: can you name the top Corbynista who on 21 March 2011, when the Commons voted on military action in Libya, backed war? One Emily Thornberry…

Its known as a "Harmonism" after Harriet who vigorously applauded Ed for his attack
on Blair for taking us into the Iraq war, even though she'd voted for it.

Wasn't Thornberry the woman who resigned from the shadow cabinet after a controversy over somebody hanging the English flag from their bedroom window?

That was in Kent somewhere I believe, perhaps Strood or Rochester? Her - and others' - patrician disdain for the working class should make it impossible for her to represent the Labour Party and was a massive influence on the Leave vote, so well done her for being so crass and thick.
