People still ask for an 8'x4' sheet of 12mm plywood

I'm looking for bike tyres and some are quoted in metric and some in imperial.

Some however are quoted as, for instance, 26"x 35mm.

Worse still....26" x 1.95" or  26" x 1.1"...what the hell is that about?

Bonkers!!!
Pause Switch to Standard View FGS....are we metric or aren't we?

LOL. You want to take up fishing.

I can fish at 16 meters (length) but at 3 foot (depth).

I can buy a pint of maggots, or two litres.

Can weigh in in pounds and ounces, or kilograms.

Have 2 pound breaking strain line, or have the same,  measured as line diameter of 0.12.

Sure it will all get sorted when were out of Europe.

Should all go metric and the use of stone-age measurements should be considered a crime resulting in 2 weeks in a re-education camp !

Give people an inch and they'll take a metre.

Just checked that....I seem to be mistaken after a quick look.....was due to some rubber not being able to withstand the very cold temperatures

Forgot about that one.....

Just recalling the famous comment by Aneka Rice, on some sort of crummy housey programme, when she called the timber
merchant and asked for an 8'x 4' sheet of P.L.Y Laugh

Born in 1968 and science minded I try and be metric but I still refer to imperial Blush

I'm 12 stone and 1.7m tall.

Having been taught both the European and American systems, I believe I have a good grasp of them. For example, I now call a yard a garden.

The reason metric hasn't replaced Imperial is because Imperial is easier.

Few craftsmen that I know prefer metric to Imperial. Whether they're measuring in tenths of a thousandth of an inch, or yards feet and inches.

Casual DIYers will do well to stick to imperial as well.

The only good thing to come out of Europe is the ferry back to the UK.
