So the police go to the trouble of arresting a man for stealing a hat.

When my car was broken into and my laptop stolen behind a police station which had CCTV cameras they said they didn't 'have the resources' to investigate the crime. They also wouldn't give me access to the CCTV when I said I will do it myself.
