I'm a bit confused about Deborah. Said at the start she was a serial inventor, but I've been through them all in the last half hour.

Only one I can't attribute is coco pops so I presume it's that.

I want to go on Dragons Den with a new device for rolling bogeys between fingers and thumb.
£50K for 25%

Deborah would go for it!

Lights -- recessed fitting for LED ceiling lights, so far as I can make out -- Nick did not like the colours -- Peter was worried about gaps and a missing clamp -- Deb thought LEDs did not blow often enough -- Sarah out -- Nick was worried about the claim to "manufacture" on the boxes -- Nick out -- Deb out -- Peter out (after lamenting the lack of plasterboard in demos) -- Touker asked if he'd spoken to retailers -- Touker out. Inventor wanted marketing -- he should advertise for a sales director imo.

Coconut oil for babies -- already in Boots -- Nick did the sums and worked out Boots was not selling many -- Peter sais selling less than one pot a day per shop -- Deb already has an investment in skin care for children so is out -- Sarah said it cured her children's eczema but also has invested in a competitor so is out -- Nick is a partner with Sarah so he is out -- Touker pointed out that mass market sales will squeeze his margins -- Peter owns 30% of Holly Willoughby's range so he is out -- 4 out of 5 dragons out because of competing investments -- only Touker left, who offered at 30% -- negotiated to 30% reducing to 25%. Accepted.

Balloons -- no offers.

Tablet stand -- sells online and on Amazon -- "moving into profit" -- coy on costs but Peter did the sums -- Deb said there are a lot of competing stands -- Nick out -- Sarah out -- Touker out -- Deb out because the market is too snall -- Peter thought it was the best-designed he'd seen but again thought the market was too snall because most tablet-owners use covers.

Doggy wearable tech -- £150k for 7.5% => £2 million company -- Peter asked about IP to justify £2 million valuation given they've only sold 1,500 -- Touker out on valuation -- Sarah out because not a doggy person -- Deb loves it -- Nick wants to know how data will be exploited -- inventor says they do not (yet) get data back for central analysis -- imo needs far more development -- Peter out on valuation -- Nick offered half the money for 10% -- Deb offered the same -- inventor said there were 4 other investors which limits him to 12.5% -- Deb out -- Nick out.

I'm no business expert but after watching the last few weeks I am sure there are millions to be made with a coconut based app.

If you notice they'll only support stuff that's already got a decent track record of selling.
And the figures to go with it.

Then they fall over themselves to get aboard. They take few chances.

how come coconut water/oil/cream has 'suddenly' become the numero uno in everything lately ...

It's the health benefits I think

The U.S. Department of Agriculture states that 1 cup of raw coconut contains roughly 24 grams of saturated fat. With this high fat content, raw coconut meat is also a very high-calorie food, with 283 calories per cup, says the USDA

Kid might need some fresh coconuts though, as the milk in the originals could have dried up.

Parking map app -- £200k for 2% is a valuation of £10 million -- need another £3m for development -- projecting £4m profit -- Deb worried it will burn cash too fast; Deb out -- Sarah loves the app but not the investment; Sarah out -- Touker wonders why pitcher is there; Touker out -- Peter touts his contact book and offers at 20% and mentions sharing with Nick -- Nick offers to go halves with Peter -- important point here is pitcher already has institutional investors so any extra comes out of pitcher's personal share -- pitcher counters with 5% -- Peter asks for 15% -- pitcher declines. No investments.

As an aside, Peter uses a Yard-O-Led Viceroy fountain pen to make notes.

Gel nail polish -- nails have overtaken lipstick sales, apparently -- this is non-toxic and goes on twice as fast as existing nail treatments -- inventor got the idea from panel-spraying Ferraris -- Sarah doubts the claim that it is fastest -- Deb looks at non-toxicity tests -- Touker says £70k is not enough for a start-up and it needs £3-400,000; Touker out -- Peter says it is too good to be true; Peter out -- pitcher owns half the rights and the other half is held by the development laboratory in China -- Nick can't see what he can add; Nick out -- Sarah out -- Deb looks at the paperwork and is worried about warnings against swallowing; not convinced she understands tbh; Deb out. No offers.

Hot and cold tap mixer -- Sarah's Danish husband would love it -- Nick moves hands rapidly between hot and cold water streams -- Peter puts the plug in and fills basin -- Deborah thinks separate taps look better -- no offers.

Here is Tom Scott on Youtube explaining why we have separate hot and cold taps.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HfHgUu_8KgA
I imagine he makes a few quid off Youtube but imo he is a far better presenter than many of those on your actual telly.

Holding gadgets -- safe tray and tablet holder -- Peter is sceptical of the tablet holder (ironically, the inventor was after Peter) but inventor says that customer service people buy it so they can hold tablet with one hand and show it to others -- tray thingy licensed to an American company -- Nick wonders why she moved from tray to tablet gadget when tray was making money -- Deborah agrees with Nick; Deb out -- Peter out -- Sarah out -- Nick prefers tablet holder but thinks it needs development -- Touker can see uses for tablet holder; Touker out. No offers. I'm surprised, tbh, because her product design was good but her business skills were lacking, and that is expertise the dragons can add.

Toilet flusher for young children -- not sold any and basically wants a dragon with a contact book -- Peter hates it; "bordering on crazy" -- Touker loves it -- voiceover thinks diversifcation plans are good even though that was what cost the previous pitcher an investment -- Nick thinks it is a product but not a business; Nick out -- Sarah out -- Peter out -- Deb likes the product but not as an investment; Deb out -- Touker likes it -- no debts; Dublin-based -- Touker ponders then offers at 40% -- accepted.

And that is the end of the series.

Looking at all those stacks of £50 notes on the table, I was trying to estimate the total value. I reckon each bundle is 10 grands worth, so maybe £250,000 per dragon, so 5 dragons, so we'll over a million quid on the table.

Anyone agree with that? Could it be more or less than my estimate? Maybe more possibly!

More likely Peter was sat in the office when mum or the live-in nanny was wiping bottoms and flushing toilets and hasn't got a clue.

He might be half right that it only takes a few weeks for the kids to get into the routine, though. Will parents buy the gadget for a couple of weeks? At £12 they might. Really it is a punt on whether Touker can get it into the shops on the strength of a phone call.
