A Romanian firm have applied to Staffordshire Borough Council to open a rabbit battery farm there. WTF!

An application has been put forward by Romanian firm POE to open an intensive rabbit farming facility in Gnosall, Staffordshire. We the undersigned believe such a barbaric and outdated farming practice has no place in the 21st century and that it should simply not be allowed to come into fruition. Barren battery farming severely restricts the natural behaviour of rabbits. They are unable to hop, run, stretch out, stand on their hind legs (periscope), binky, or even turn around. This is severely detrimental to both the mental and physical well-being of the rabbit, and can lead to many skeletal issues, splay leg, sore hocks or the development of stereotypical behaviours such as excessive grooming and repetitive gnawing of the cage bars. There will be nothing for them to do and nowhere for them to hide. Suffering in European rabbit battery farms has been widely documented, and we do not believe it has any place in modern society.

From their Facebook page. You treat dogs badly in Romania which is why people rescue them and bring them to loving homes in the UK. We don't want you bringing your other dirty habits here. I hope your business fails both here and in Romania. The people of Stafford won't want a stinking battery farm for rabbits. You will be getting lots of demos I've no doubt to disrupt your sordid business . Better not bother ! |

Can't see why we need more rabbit meat. We have tons of our own, we just need to kill it and eat it. Low fat, nutritious and ridiculously cheap.

Cheap supermarkets perhaps? High turnover, sell it cheap as chips. Hope the Council reject it immediately.

Maybe we could get Tommy to lean on them. I seem to remember he lives in nearby Stoke. Could be wrong but I'm sure he mentioned it once.
