Owen Smith says your vote for Brexit was Misguided - you twits

Dangerous to mess with democracy.
Like his threat to call for a second vote or a general election.
Neither is required.
We had a general election and the conservatives won.
If they have the second vote I will vote out. I was remain and was gutted we lost but we did.
Time to move on.

I would have voted to leave if my postal vote had arrived but was amazed at the result tbh. I lost a few £100s on it.
I haven't got much time for Smith but he might have a point if the deal that is done ( and there has to be some kind of deal ) is not what the Brexiteers were expecting. It's a very difficult situation which is largely down to Cameron who was so sure he was going to win he quite clearly had no Plan B and has now abandoned ship,which he said he wouldn't do.

Now that people have seen that the UK hasn't collapsed since the vote, would another vote return a different result? I suspect that a lot of people who voted to remain through fear of an immediate collapse may have changed their minds.

The stupid thing is that not much was ever going to change immediately - its a few years down the line where any impact will be felt. People from both sides are jumping on any data they can to try and prove a point when really its all noise.

As for Owen Smith - He is coming across as desperate which is never a good look.

I don't think we should have been asked to vote in the first place. The actual complexity of the issues were far too much for most people to understand. I think a lot of people voted purely in an emotional mindset, and immigration being the big issue. We should have had a goverment that was smart enough to decide for us. The whole thing was a total mess !

The problem for Cameron was that he had promised a referendum, which he had to deliver, took a reckless gamble and he lost, backfired spectacularly !

I believe that he should withdraw from the leadership contest as he could not run a bloody post office.

Corbyn is suffering from this publicity stunt "traingate" that went badly wrong. And Owen Smith has to be the biggest nutcase in politics. He is handing Labour leadership to Corbyn on a plate. There just seems to be nobody who can unite the Labour party right now.

We have voted to come out of Europe....if our leaders do not honour that

we have no democracy.

Perhaps if our leaders actually tried telling us the truth, instead of clever lies all the time,

we would not be in the mess we are in now.

^ I don't think a lot of people properly understood the economic issues, we weren't given any facts because nobody knew exactly what would happen. The "Remain" campaign didn't choose to make a big issue of immigration. Instead, its main argument was that leaving the EU would be an economic disaster for Britain, cutting it off from trading partners and triggering a recession.

So keeping immigrants out versus protecting Britain’s economy was main concern for a lot of voters, and lot of people voted emotionally with high levels of hostility on immigration. And those scare stories about economic disaster, depends what happens in next 1 or 2 years now......

as stated above with the world not ending after the brexit vote and prominent remainers now admitting that people have legitmate concerns over mass immigration which they didnt admit or address in the reff ,only an absolute fool like smith would think there,d be a different result if polled again,you wouldnt get a bet on brexit been confirmed

Do you really think that MP’s have a better understanding of the more complex issues than a lot of ordinary people? From what I see I would rather trust the wisdom of 33 million people than a bunch of MP’s who in the main don’t have a great deal of real life experience and who listen to  people with vested interests (banks, big businesses, Obama etc.) or people who don’t know their arse from their elbow (ie the IMF – go back and look at their predictions of the last twenty years and see if you can find one that they actually got right).

Even if they did understand the complex issues, governments tend to do what suits them/their pockets/lobby groups than what is best for the country.

It sounds to me like your views are tainted by the result (assuming you are a remainer). Would you be on here arguing the same thing if the vote had gone the other way?

Remainers still haven’t learnt the biggest lesson to come out of the referendum – ie that people hated the arrogance with which the in campaign looked down their noses to tell ordinary people that they knew best and that people who were leaning towards voting for out were too old/thick/racist etc etc

tell I said at the time, on more than one occasion, that a decision on which way to vote could not be made on economic grounds as nobody knew what would happen, even the so called experts whose judgement in the main has yet again has been shown up to be pretty poor. There were however several other reasons where uncertainty of what would happen wasn't an issue, and I'm sure the electorate were competent enough to work them out.

Well the Most Northerners all Voted Remain ,Remove London and Scotland it would have Been a walk over For Exit , Rebuild the Two Roman walls, Hadrians and Londinistan and Let them crack on with IMO In a way we could see how remaining would have worked out
