Went to a funeral last week,& the daughter of the deceased & her husband were both drinking champers. Im no expert on funeral etiquette,& am well aware about celebrating someones life but it seemed wrong & out of place, is it deemed acceptable these days?

Seems perfectly appropriate, everyone's popped their cork.

Champagne is perfectly acceptable.

Lambrusco less so.

Going to be more popular when you see the value of houses people are inheriting these days.

Nothing wrong with Champagne at a funeral, though it would be frowned upon if relatives started spraying it around Formula 1 style.
