From REUTERS report -

told to stock up ten days of food - The Muslim threat?
Can't see why you'd need ten days provisions to counter a terrorist attack?
Maybe something (bigger) this way comes?

may be a money making idea from a government official increase consumer spending,90% of houses in Germany have cellers built in the event of a world war so most will stock up anyway.THE food will not go to waste, and inflation and interest rates will be corrected.

I read somewhere, possibly in "Rich Dad, Poor Dad", that you should create your own bodega (corner shop) by stocking up on stuff that was on offer, even if you didn't need it right away.

Assuming what you bought had a good shelf life, you would end up with most of your necessities already in your spare room/cellar/attic/garage. Your weekly shopping would be only for bargains plus perishables.

It seems plausible, given that interest rates are so low. However, can you really make a dozen bottles of whisky last a year if your mates are round and they know you've got them?

Would be worth investing in a still and makin' some moonshine.

I wrote a book in which some of the characters made moonshine using a freezer. I can't mention the name of it on here because posts about my novels tend to get deleted.

And let them gather all the food of those good years that come, and lay up corn under the hand of Pharaoh, and let them keep food in the cities. And that food shall be for store to the land against the seven years of famine, which shall be in the land of Egypt; that the land perish not through the famine ysdc.

Sounds like they fear an attack with bio-hazard such as smallpox or even a dirty bomb.In such a situation people would be required to stay at home for a few days and transport in the area would be disrupted.
Now where's my WW2 gas mask?

The real reason is banking collapse. And it's a case of when not if. They will want someone to blame though so something else may kick off.
