looks good to me, you swap 2 & 3 maybe.
Report i_agree_with_nick August 21, 2016 10:35 PM BST
Possibly. I think Laura could edge it with (literally) her personality.
Report i_agree_with_nick August 21, 2016 10:40 PM BST
We'll have to wait and see but I guess that as the tributes, replays, reviews and souvenirs come out, Mo and Laura will be the poster boy and girl.

Laura would win for me every year, its about voters and we know what female voters are like Whoops

2008 and 2012 were won by Chris Hoy and Bradley Wiggins respectively so she's in with a big shout.

I really hope the Somalian who pays his taxes in America doesn't win.

Murray, for me.
Report ReaseHeath August 21, 2016 11:03 PM BST
would like to see Nick Skelton win personally - but I can understand some may disagree because he is competing in an event not accessible to most people, plus the horse deserves a lot of the credit too.

He also offers inspiration to the over 50s.

Having said that if Murray wins in New York and/or GB retain Davis Cup he'll have a strong case in terms of achievement.

A strong year with the relative outsider who won the Masters with a stunning back 9 unlikely to get a look in.

Probably worth wait till the year is over. Wayne Rooney could score a hatrick against Hull and then all bets are up in the air. Plain

BBC would love Muslim winner, it would be like Bake Off on a bigger scale.
Report lovegod August 22, 2016 6:57 AM BST
Team Award will probably go to the Womens Hockey Team just because they are women.

They'd be like Sir Mohammad Farah the greatest British sportsman of all time.

Think the GB Women's Hockey Team may run Leicester City close for team of the year.

Dunno if this is a public vote but 9m people watched their Olympic Final vs The Netherlands
Report Crisp77 August 22, 2016 9:02 AM BST
Hi Roger, you might want to consider laying the Women's Hockey Team. In 2012 Team GB for the Paralympics and Olympics were classed as one big team and won, although rowing and cycling teams have won it before from the Olympics
Report geordie1956 August 22, 2016 9:08 AM BST
Laura Trott (currently 7 on the exchange) seems a reasonable bet
Obviously Murray were he to win the US Open would elevate him to a very short priced fav

Cheers Crisp

Wasn't thinking of this from a punting point of view myself. How is the Team Award voted for? Is it a public vote or done by a load of BBC policy twonks?
Report Crisp77 August 22, 2016 9:32 AM BST
From last year:

The Panel determine the shortlist and winner for the Team of the Year award.

last year the BBC policy twonks were:

The Panel will comprise 12 members this year:

• Representatives from BBC Sport: Barbara Slater (Director, BBC Sport), Philip Bernie (Head of TV Sport) and Carl Doran (Executive Editor, BBC Sports Personality of the Year).

• Former nominees of an award: Baroness Tanni Grey-Thompson, Maggie Alphonsi and Dame Mary Peters.

• Representative from BBC TV Sport: Jermaine Jenas

• Pan-sports broadcaster/journalist: Hazel Irvine

• Representatives from national newspapers: Tim Hallissey (The Times), Ian Prior (The Guardian) and Cliff Hayes (The Sun)

• Representative from the UK sports industry: Baroness Sue Campbell

Women's Hockey team should be shorter than Leicester City given that line up!Grin
Report Crisp77 August 22, 2016 9:56 AM BST
Tom Daley's Synchronised team has more chance than Leicester given that line up Grin
