Swimming - Swim properly should just be the quickest so scrap backstroke, butterfly and all the rest of them

Rowing - Jeez 1 person, 2 people teams, 4 and 8 then sometimes with a cox and sometimes without. Could easy cut the number in half, if not more.

Diving - Completely pointless, scrap it all

Cycling - Don't know whether your coming or going with all the different events and cyclists all over the place. Easy cut the number of events by over half.

Synchronised swimming - Enough said

Dressage - Horses dancing? They should be racing.

Football - There's enough football around the world and has its own world cup

Golf - Will never compete with the majors

There's loads more that pop on your screen and think wtf.

Any others?

Swimming -- the problem is the number of distances, which often make no difference so the same person wins the 50m, 100m, 200m and so on. We could save a lot of time and pointless medals by just having a 1-length race.

Relays -- completely pointless. The only interest is in whether the team in the lead will drop the baton on the final change.

Cycling -- see swimming.

any sort of relay race is pointless. Any event that requires judges should go as well. Dressage is more art than sport as is gymnastics/trampolining. Track cycling is a poor mans version of road racing and has way too many events. Teams sports of all sorts have no place.

Boxing requires judges, unless you just want to watch knackers fight!

Anything with weight categories.  Who cares how much a small person can lift if the big person can lift him and the weight he is struggling with?

At most a large, medium and small for boxing, judo, weightlifting etc.

Either that or introduce short-person basketball and fatty sprinting

And do we really need two genders worth of medals?  That would get rid of half of the medals (more or less)

It's a good point about the swimming strokes; there is no running backwards or skipping in athletics (although there is walking, which is a good walk spoiled likg golf)

I think they have to have so much swimming and cycling to justify the cost of building the venues.

agree with mecca the kiran with the hairdryer plodding round for 3.5 laps is an absolute joke, why not just make it a 4 lap race without the hairdryer 2 laps to get their speed up and a 2 lap sprint
most annoying part of the olympics so far taking over from the table tennis coaches must be the cox in the mens 8,aptly named what a dickhead look at me ,look at me sat their calling the strokes theyve been practicing for the last 4 years

The sprint, team sprint and keirin are basically the same event.  Get rid of the latter two and the omnium but bring back the madison or points race
