For me the major part of the internet in the early days was chat rooms and yahoo games. They were multi player, very addictive, you could play pool, chess, scrabble,the lot. There were leagues, you had a rating, it was a great community. Met some great people through it from all over the world. Spent many an hour killing time in there. Shame they got rid.
Pause Switch to Standard View Yahoo games, gone but not forgotten.

Same on Excite.com/Excite.co.uk many years ago. Had a load of games, checkers etc that you could chat on and had rankings etc. Got shot.

Scuse my ignorance but why would they get rid of something that was so popular? I get why they got rid of MSN chat but not this

When I first went online around 1995 I was on a 38k modem, I always thought it was amazing asking A/S/L and talking to someone from the other side of the World. It was like CB radio on drugs.

I also discovered you could open up a second browser window while your first page was loading! Each page took 2 or 3 minutes lo load.

Nostalgia eh!
