Shows the long lasting damage war can do .

Overlong and overrated. Great acting though.

Whenever I think of tv or films, not very often, the scenes that 'grab' me are the opening scenes from 'breaking bad', the 'russian roulette' scenes from the Deer Hunter  and scenes from the hospital series 'ET' where george clooney, before he was really famous, saved a boys life (you knew he was going to save him, but it was still a well directed, well acted piece)

The Roulette scene just been on , still scares me a bit

Was the boy George Colony helped called Elliott? I hope Colony helped him phone home from the hospital.
Report annie. August 11, 2016 10:38 PM BST
Of course the tv series was 'ER', not ET Blush

Although ET is one of my favourite films.

Was the opening hour of the film made purposely slow & extreme dull & dour to shock even more when the contrast turned to the captive Russian roulette scene, as someone has already said it was immense acting but the film was overly long because of the slow start.

Roy Scheider was supposed to be in the De Niro role.
Report SlippyBlue August 12, 2016 4:02 PM BST
I've seen it twice but not a film I'd ever care to see again.
Report acey deucy August 12, 2016 5:27 PM BST
The R.R scene will stay with me for life.....Probably the best piece of acting I will ever see.

John McCain went through a horrible experience after being shot down (which is hardly cowardice) and Trump made some quip about being captured as "cowardly". Turns out Trump was a bit of a draft dodger .. err .. "deferrer".
