An attack as appalling as it can get.

Yet he'll be out of jail in four years to do it again.
That's even after ''Judge Ian Graham told Bassey he feared he would offend again.''

I'd lock the judge up with him.

I should think the families of the victims, if not the victims themselves will be considering making their own arrangements for his punishment when he gets out.

The crime is appalling. This line, "then cooly re-joined his 20-strong group of friends who could be seen laughing and joking" makes you wonder what else was going on.

Was it racist though? That might depend on what the attacker's friends were up to. We need to be a bit careful that the pendulum does not swing too far the other way so every attack by a Black man is seen as racist and every attack by a muslim is terrorism. Mainly they are just c.nts.

White on black offences are routinely judged as a racist attacks in the first instance.

Yet in this case it doesn't even seen to have been considered.

Did they go into the attacker's background searching for evidence that he'd displayed racist inclinations in the past?

If this had been a white attack on a black person they certainly would, and offered anything found as evidence.

If his 20-strong group of mates were all Black, yes. If not, then probably not. Sounds to me like a case for life in Broadmoor rather than 8 years at Her Majesty's.
