Means test it.
If they get it through unprotected sex then it's self inflicted, so make them pay towards it. |

preventative drugs can sometimes work even after someone has caught a disease you thick ****
the rabies vaccine is one that is given as preventative but it can also prevent the disease if it is given to the person after they have been exposed |

NHS should just give them corks

Next they'll want NHS funding to turn the anus into a self cleaning orifice.

At the end of the day we should say 'all bets are off' and leagise drugs and make all our 'vices' acceptable in the 21st century. |

Comments on the Daily Mail article:
Why should we fund people who want to have dangerous sex. They should take precautions themselves, or abstain. This will only encourage risky sexual behaviour and increase other STDs. Ludicrous, stupid, nonsensical, politically correct decision. if your behaviour puts you at high risk, change your behaviour, don't expect the tax payer to fork out because you are too selfish to use a condom ! What does 'the most at risk' mean? Everyone is equally able to contract HIV, so this must mean people who voluntarily go out of their way to often have sex with people they don't really know. To encourage this behaviour seems very strange. Maybe they should just change their behaviour to protect themselves and leave everyone else out of it. ..Hard to disagree. |

The drugs already in existence for treating those diagnosed with HIV are very effective. They will not be using the new drug for ANYBODY diagnosed with HIV. HTH. |

charwell you complete idiot
"How can they give them a preventative drug for a condition they already have" this is what you asked, well they can and they do. you are a fool and a dishonest one at that, don`t let yourself believe anything else. all things considered there is nothing you can do about it. |

people who take this treatment will be less likely to pass on the virus.
those on treatment are 96% less likely to transmit HIV to their partners. so in this way also it is preventative in nature, after getting the disease. |
|
By:
it can be preventative before and after getting the disease.

Why are people saying it's cheaper than the treatment. If everyone of sexual age took it, that's £1.5billion a month

The wider problem seems to be that when the government hived off public health from the NHS to the councils, it left these sort of preventive measures in financial limbo.

The story is all about the 'at risk' group who are gay men. Why are they at risk? Because buggery is VERY dangerous to one's health. Also gay men do a lot of oral yukky stuff ( I can't bring myself to expain it), which is equally dangerous.
Thirdly, they are promiscous within a relatively small community. Ergo it's a dangerous lifestyle. But our liberal govt and our judges can't be seen to be opposing gays now can they... |

Only 34% of gay men partake in the riskier activity....I looked this up for another gay-phobic thread about a year ago.
Only a small % will be engaging in the 'yukier' oral stuff as will be the % of heterosexual people who do the 'yukier' oral stuff. The more reckless people (in both camps) have psychological issues and care less about their health, especially when on drugs. |

Are Gay Men any more "at risk" of costing the NHS dough than smokers, drinkers or fat gets who wouldn't look at a salad till their diabetes has made them blind?
|
|
By:
Gay fat men who drink and smoke a lot are the real problem.
