There's a lot of paranoia abounding in Youtube over military build ups
and troop movements in the USA. Stock piling of emergency rations and
FEMA like preparations around Washington?
They said all preparations should be completed by end of August?
Got a date of sometime in September?
speculation of a possible meteor strike?

Could  just be exercises though. Perhaps a NATO thing.

But if a meteor where to strike the oceans, wouldn't it be better to
have your ships in dock?

Better they are in port than engaging in this people smuggling operation in the Meditteranean .

Its bad enough they are at the people smugglers beck and call but they don't even get a cut of the profits.

From a financial point of view wouldn't it be better for your Navy to go straight into Port and pick the migrants up and charge them a flat fee.
The fee could be bigger than the smugglers fee as their is no risk plus plush conditions and your medical needs catered for on ship.

the ships cannot maneuver like small vessels - they need smaller speedboats for that.

I'd have thought the safest place to have a large ship would be in the open ocean on the other side of the world so it can turn into the wave. If a huge wave hits a dock a ship is just going to be turned into twisted metal at the bottom of the dockside. Or carried inland, like during that last tsunami.
