Better they are in port than engaging in this people smuggling operation in the Meditteranean .
Its bad enough they are at the people smugglers beck and call but they don't even get a cut of the profits. From a financial point of view wouldn't it be better for your Navy to go straight into Port and pick the migrants up and charge them a flat fee. The fee could be bigger than the smugglers fee as their is no risk plus plush conditions and your medical needs catered for on ship. |

I'd have thought the safest place to have a large ship would be in the open ocean on the other side of the world so it can turn into the wave. If a huge wave hits a dock a ship is just going to be turned into twisted metal at the bottom of the dockside. Or carried inland, like during that last tsunami.
