Blimey, John Cale. Haven't seen him since his Velvet Underground days.

no wonder i hate this forum. david jones, an absurd lipsticked pansy who should have been forced to play loose-forward for batley, rather than being lionised by the gliterrati,  is now some sort of cultural icon for for philistine tcnus on here. he called his child zowie. uber-tnuc. and you all love him. all ncuts.

why do music-lovers have to endure this indignity, which gets worse every year? i dont suppose shostakovich will be inserted into the reading festival next year. or havergal brian at reading?

what a dismal shower of wanchors this country has produced. the one celebration of music that we have, and that is unparalleled, is degraded, to make it 'accessible' and 'relevant'. by including the deranged ramblings of a grotesque drug-crazed bender who wore womens clothes.

jones was a preposterous poofter who was not worth a nana intellectually.

I have a measuring stick I always hold up to people
i meet. I ask them if they like David Bowie's Music.
If they say yes - I avoid them.
Usually dicks or prize Arses.
He's the ultimate Siphon. He first copied
Anthony Newly. then Syd Barrett, The Velvet Underground,
The Stooges, The New York Dolls, and Andy Warhol.
Kraftwerk told Bowie to FO - they knew he'd vamp off their
work. He went on to attach to Many Many more, from film makers
for imagery of his videos to experimental musicians like
Brian Eno.
His gift was seeing other cutting edge musicians and grabbing
their mojo before they hit the big time.

Ah yes i do like getting socialising advice from the forum. It's like getting nutritional advice from Rick Waller. We also need to remember that he took illegal drugs. I don't think we can ignore it when any musician takes illegal drugs.

Guaranteed you are alone , unless you count the other knuckle dragging rock apes you associate with.

his last album blackstar starts off with a witchcraft curse - satanic in nature.
payback for his boss?
why did he feel the need to do this weirdness at the end of his career?
a very rich man ending his career with a curse?

A disappointing evening after a promising start. Enjoyed the opening orchestrated version of 'Warszawa', patting myself on the back for having tipped it up beforehand as a worthy opening number.

Sadly the sub-prime 'guest stars' invited along to participate were well below the standard an occasion like this merited. Amanda Palmer, ye gods.

A shame that the often excellent Neil Hannon wasn't asked to write one of his wry and dry songs about the businessman Bowie's adventure into the world of Junk Bonds.

Ithought the bonds had worked well for people and everything was hunky dory?

Worked out well for HIM, which is all that particular businessman was interested in after his Adult Education Course in Business administered by his brighter ex-manager.

I seem to remember some financial chappy in the music industry saying the investors were doing/did ok. Didn't follow it in detail.

His music was great, what I heard anyway.

His music (or somebody elses) was very good indeed. He was a weirdo.
