One of the very few European leaders with any credibility. He stood up for his people last summer despite the threats from other Governments. He wrote this a year ago, before Paris and subsequent attacks...

"“Europe’s response is madness. We must acknowledge that the European Union’s misguided immigration policy is responsible for this situation.

“Those arriving have been raised in another religion, and represent a radically different culture. Most of them are not Christians, but Muslims,” he said. “This is an important question, because Europe and European identity is rooted in Christianity.

“Is it not worrying in itself that European Christianity is now barely able to keep Europe Christian? There is no alternative, and we have no option but to defend our borders.”

“Irresponsibility is the mark of every European politician who holds out the promise of a better life to immigrants and encourages them to leave everything behind and risk their lives in setting out for Europe. If Europe does not return to the path of common sense, it will find itself laid low in a battle for its fate.”

Best leader in Europe at present, putting his people first unlike those craven apologists Merkel and Hollande.

Wiki :

Orbán's critics have included domestic and foreign leaders (including United States Secretary of State Hillary Clinton[71] and President of the European Commission José Manuel Barroso[72]), intergovernmental organisations, nongovernmental organisations, and the press.

Specifically, he has been accused of pursuing anti-democratic reforms; reducing the independence of Hungary’s press, judiciary and central bank; amending Hungary’s constitution to prevent amendments to Fidesz-backed legislation; and of cronyism and nepotism.[73]

For example, he has been accused of pork-barreling by building a 4000-seat stadium in the village in which he grew up, Felcsút,[74] at a distance of some 20 ft from his country house.[74]

If Hilary Clinton doesn't like the fella then he's alright by me!

Seriously though, what a champion of common sense Mr Orban is.

If his main critics are Clinton and Barroso, it confirms my high opinion of the gentleman.

When the Hungarian PM became a prominent voice of good sense in the Summer/Autumn of 2015, I can recall a BBC 'Newsnight' report sniffily wondering whether his policies were really compatible with Modern European values.

However they didn't ask whether such culturally-enriching and vibrant practices such as FGM, Beheading, Oppression of Women, Carrying Out Massacres In The Name of Peaceful Religions were compatible with Modern Europe, or ask whether Germany inviting in 1 million potential supporters of such vibrancy into Europe unchecked was such a good idea.
