Excellent effort, Gin.  Eight out of nine correct, sir.  The second game isn't 1942.
Report Gin • July 22, 2016 4:40 PM BST
Cheers PD!

I think I can remember the second one but can't for the life of me remember what it was called.

Could you get extra planes that flew by the side of you to give you more firepower? (if it's the game I am thinking of).

I don't think so, Gin, although I may be wrong.

I'll give you a clue: there was a big mothership at the end of each level which had to be destroyed via multiple strikes.

There is also a very strong clue printed just underneath the picture if you can read such small writing (press CTRL and + a few times to magnify the text).

I'm racking my brains but even with the clue I still can't get it. I'm sure somebody else will.Cool

I've sent you the answer via PM should you wish to peek.  :)
Report Gin • July 22, 2016 5:21 PM BST
Thanks PD - I wouldn't have got that (even if I hadn't mis-read the clue!Laugh)

Pole position - what a game that was. There was one bend where you had to totally spin the steering wheel to the right then quickly
get back in position if you wanted to complete the track. Absolute classic game

It used to be in the local fish and chip shop (chippy)

20p a go, circa 1990

Memories Grin

Pacman and Q Bert were my favourites.  I managed to finish Pacman many times, 256 screens.  Happy

10p per play, early 1980s.  Happy

You must be a few years older Grin

Not quite as old but say 91-92'  ghost n ghouls what an arcade game that was. Wee knight in armour man killing ghosts, get hit once he loses his armour and you're running about in your pants.

Remember getting to the final stage against the final enemy, must have been on the game for about 3 quarters of an hour. As rumour got
round the arcade was on the last level a large crowd of kids were gathered around the machine watching. Never did complete it but hours of enjoyment.

Every time went on holiday it would be the first game would search the local arcade for. That excited feeling in your stomach when you spotted it Grin

Daley Thompsons track and field.

I was a legend on Hayling Island in the arcades, pole position & out run. Cool

Elevator Action another one of my favourites.

...and by far the best home computer for conversions of these the humble commodore 64 which had amazing versions of Commando and Hyper Sports etc, the poor Spectrum only popular cause it was a lot cheaper..
