I was wondering about brexit. When article 50 is set in motion do any of you think that Scotland or Northern Ireland will leave the union and join the EU.
England would save billions if both did leave because England pump billions of pounds into Scotland and Northern Ireland .
should Northern Ireland leave the EU ,England would be left to foot the bill of billions pounds that the EU pay at the moment ,so I guess England would be glad if both Scotland and Northern Ireland packed their bags and joined Europe.
But I wonder what will happen.Any views.

Neither will leave, for the reason you say - money.
Report brassneck • July 21, 2016 12:46 AM BST
but the other side of the coin is that if they both stay its England that will foot the bill for the EU grants that are paid at the moment, which will hinder England in its early days after leaving.

Scotland's economy grew or didn't grow by 0% this year and that is with being in Europe. Nicola Sturgeon will be mince by next year, hopefully. cheers.

Think of this situation.
A 16 year old  scot lad wants to go to college in two years time.
At the moment the EU give an education grant of 28% in fees to further his education at college.
After article 50 is set in motion the grant stops.
So England have a choice to continue to pay the grant themselves or abolish the grant.
Now this young scot lad may be the next Einstein with brains to burn but no money for college fees.
If the grant is abolished he will go to a European country to avail of the EU Grant to further his education.
big deal you may say,but this would cause a brain drain right across the UK.
as all the best students would head off to Europe for the sun, sea, and science.
its serious stuff and I bet I am the only guy in the world that has thought of this train coming down the track.Shocked

If we are out the EU so are they

they are part of the UK.

Any student going to a EU country, would need to speak the language.

I doubt we will see a brain drain.

Do all students in this country get an EU grant, or is it just selected areas?

Scotland:
80% of trade with UK, 10% trade with EU and 10% trade with rest of the world.
Scots will vote out of a union with 80% of their trade to join another union with 10% of their trade and less political say Crazy

Northern Ireland:
Recent vote showed a majority of NATIONALISTS would vote to stay in the UK.
NI receives a subsidy of £13 billion a year from Westminster. For united Ireland, the Republic would also need to vote in favour. Would the Republic with a population of 4 million vote to subsidise the North at a cost of £3,000 per citizen per year?

END OF FRED

If Scotland left GB, might they invite a son of the Duchess of Alba to become King? A Stuart ancestor...

Scotland cant leave until the oil prices rises. At the moment it just isnt viable.

I cant see trade being a major factor since whats good for the goose is good for the gander.
England using the vernacular of free market economics with europe on a leave cant then shut any door with scotland imo

but how are the English people going to feel when they get their pay slip for 650 quid for a weeks work and they see a standard deduction of 50 quid =for Scotland and a standard deduction 30 quid =North Ireland .
remember the EU Are pumping money in all sort of grants into these parts of the UK at the moment.
England in my opinion will be left carrying the can.because someone will have to pay or a serious recession will kick in .
otherwise health grants and education grants and so fourth will buckle and a famine will follow the recession.
no country can build a new trade in a couple of years.
it will take the UK at least 7 years to set up a new world market trade with USA,CANADA,CHINA,RUSSIA and so fourth.
IT really is a crazy but serious situation.
its like the carpation ship steaming towards the TITANIC to pick up survivers but it will arrive to late.(in my opinion)

Hopefully Scotland will have a referendum soon.

Because i actually think most Scottish people are very smart and would rather stay with as the uk than leave. Only the loud voters are being listened too at the moment imo.

Cant wait for the odds, so far from what i have been reading Scots are 1/5 to leave Excited

the best to happen is if REP OF IRELAND left the EU and joined with THE UK it would start a domino effect and Europe would break up.
And this could happen because Ireland need the UK or they will be finished .

Yes ,come home bhoys ,you know it makes sense ,no borders ,home sweet home .
A united IRE could be a real goer .

Scotland already had a iref ,the people spoke ,we voted to remain part of the
United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ire .

We dont need another or nother ,its not best of three or anything like that ,once in a lifetime and that once has come and been .

The EU wrecked Ireland and now its EU rules everyday, but if the irish got a vote to leave the EU they would take it.AND it could happen in the next six months. The Germans are insisting that the irish pay for metered water and this subject is like a red rag to a bull for the irish people they want to pay for it through direct taxation .So a referendum just might be on the cards because the irish people will not agree with the EU law that the germans are trying to impose.
if a vote way taken today the irish would vote to leave the EU because of the water argument.
