I'd missed the start of this series until it was mentioned on the Fake Or Fortune thread so must give thanks for the miracle of iPlayer.
Best part for me of episode 1 was the interplay between Bristol's captain, a medical student, and their organic chemist on the amino acid bonuses (Bristol Clarke and Bristol Tomsett, to give them their full names).
The Sheffield biologist will be embarrassed at messing up the tropism questions.

Saw the start on the day.....what was the correct answer for the tropism question or what did student give as the answer?
Paxo is not doing anything to his hair as he would get the p taken out of him.... whereas most people do on tv.

He gave it as trophism rather than tropism and then could not identify the various types. This is probably A-level and maybe even GCSE stuff so I imagine he was kicking himself in the student bar.

Questions are very easy now. Better with Bamber Gascoigne.
I think Paxman thinks he is wasting his time.....BBC could use him more.
bit harsh to have two of our top learning establishments up against each other in the first round imo
sort of right for me (economics my subject, bit embarrassing when i get them wrong)

it looked a bit plain to me for a tv appearance although i do like the fact that she isnt overly worried about looking too smart on tv.

Brian Cox on BBC1 will be more uplifting ...think it's a repeat though.
