I believe in better morals all round in our society, there is far too much emphasis on sex

not enough on traditional family values

This does of course include no child abuse! I have am glad we have improved on that

What happens when the childs at school sports day & they have the Dads race?

Surely this would cause boooing from watchers, 2 dads being in one race

or an unfair advantage, obviously the fastest dad enters the race

end up with 2 parents of the same kind - a high % imo would grow up to be strange/odd or
even maybe dangerous people? after all it's not normal is it even though we're being
made out to make out we approve

I agree Ron so I don't approve unless there is nobody else to adopt them.

We are Gay tolerant society which is right.

But I feel we do keep a line between what is in fact two societies, Hetero and Gay.

Are you describing a situation where a homosexual couple adopt a child, and then both of those parents attend that child's future Sports Day and that you are guessing that I would be cheering for both parents if they were running in the dads race together. Is that what you mean?

boxing - here in our village in rural Sussex, we probably have as many (or few) "traditional family backgrounds" as anywhere, but in our School of 200+ pupils we seem to have virtually every parent combo (mentioned on here) and it seems to work.  I am not an expert but my wife is a School Governor.

JS, I have no problem with that, my point is an adopted child does not have a REASONED choice in the matter and should not be put in such a position in our present society, FFS children can cruel for the smallest reasons without giving them such an obvious targe. What part of that do you not understand.

Blackburn, that's good to know, but after 50 years living in london and now the living in the Midlands, sadly I would expect the situation of your village is the exception rather than the rule. My concern is for the adopted child and not the life choice of the 'parents'.

Ron is right. When Ron was brought up and myself we lived a World where Gay Marriage, Gay Families and
Sex with Goats...would not have been considered normal.

We would both have been to taught tolerate Gays, which I have tried to stick to, but not everybody does.

Boxing - its too late for a detailed response, but my initial response is that kids almost dont care, except to the extent that their views have been coloured by their parents. Our school is rural but by no means idyllic. We have experience of all the scenarios described on this thread (we at least those poached in reasonable terms) Good debate.

Ron - Do you have anything meaningful to add to this thread?  I wont have much time in the morning before I get hay'ing so it would be good to have some advance notice.

It's a tricky one blackburn, we all have our differing experiences that colour our judgments, your example is one I would like to see repeated everywhere, unfortunately my experience is different. I used to spend a week or two in various parts of Sussex, but that was 20 years ago, so my knowledge of your part of the world is way out of date, but your village example is heartening none the less.
