Lit up Wimbledon this year. He won't let us down now. Might cheer up the south after that debacle in France.

Dangerous opponent who will push him all the way, was serving 140mph bombs all game and Federer couldn't cope, I see each set either being a tie breaker or one break being stolen her or there, 64's and 75's either way, Mcenroe v Lendl.
Report scandanavian_haven • July 8, 2016 9:19 PM BST
or 63 of course, can break once and win a set 63

He'll win on Sunday for sure. Raonic is exactly the kind of opponent AM loves - all power no skill. The title was Murray's the moment Federer lost.

well played andy, pride of scotland and britain

i copied this interesting anecdote about him from the tennis forum (sorry if you've already seen it)

wee story for you. my wife is a primary school teacher and her class were doing a project on the Olympics.
they all wrote to a 2012 gold medal winners asking them some questions. most replied to some extent (one high profile one didn't
mentioning no names but he runs a long way) but a couple of days later the school got a phone call from a gold medal winner offering to do to skype Q&A with the kids.
It was never asked for but Andy Murray off his own back did half an hour on Skype with his gold medal in hand answering the kids questions.
They were thrilled he was great with the kids so f**k you. He's a good guy.
Report themightymac • July 11, 2016 9:53 PM BST
You talking to me? Firstly It was a joke and secondly I don't need you from little England to tell me that he is a good guy. I'll pass on your compliments to him Wink
Report themightymac • July 11, 2016 10:00 PM BST

its about mr murray, unless you are him? Laugh
Report themightymac • July 11, 2016 11:02 PM BST
Your last line in your Andy appraisal states, "so f### you".

Since I was the last poster commenting, a quip about him earning more than football players to Velasquez, I naturally assumed that my comment had been misinterpreted and you were addressing I.

It's the Buckie, it gets one paranoid and one sometimes has a head butt reaction thinking a comment was addressed to I. Laugh
Report themightymac • July 11, 2016 11:05 PM BST
I apologise. You copied it from tennis and original poster was commenting on poster's comment there. Wink

It is rare to see such huge talent combined with such a Stakhanovite work ethic. To make the changes required to compete at the top level for so long in such a gilded era of the sport is such a credit to him. He is making a compelling case to be the best sportsman produced in these islands imo.
Report themightymac • July 11, 2016 11:14 PM BST

He is equal with, 3 majors each, but much less naturally talented than Rory McIlroy at this time
Report lfc1971 • July 12, 2016 12:30 AM BST
sorry McIlroy has 4 majors
Report jed.davison • July 12, 2016 12:37 AM BST
John Daly has won two majors. Golf is not comparable to tennis when comparing athletic achievement imho.
Report lfc1971 • July 12, 2016 12:45 AM BST
we were talking about the greatest British sportsmen, not athlete. Murry would certainly not be Britains greatest athlete, that would be....someone else
Report lfc1971 • July 12, 2016 12:55 AM BST
At the moment i would not put Murry in the top 50 of all time British sportsmen/women. posssibly not in the top100
Report jed.davison • July 12, 2016 1:29 AM BST
Perhaps you are more of a golf fan than me, and I a bigger tennis fan than you. Fair enough.
Report jollyswagman • July 12, 2016 11:17 AM BST
no worries the mighty mac, i should have chopped that bit off.

my point is he's a fantastic sportsman and a decent human being too, i really cant understand those who arent so keen on him.
Report rob_dylan • July 12, 2016 11:38 AM BST
He is dull, or at least that is the front he puts on.  Quite possibly a top lad in reality, quite a few sportsmen are dull, perhaps through necessity, in front of the media but are good as gold in real life.  Michael Atherton springs to mind.  3 majors, perhaps more to come, puts him at the top table of British sportsmen imo.
Report Makybe_Diva • July 12, 2016 11:42 AM BST
