I'm pretty sure someone has actually done this in america.

Only worth it if the cost of buying every possibility was less that the jackpot itself, unless you just want the kudos of saying I won the lottery. UK lotto jackpot would have to substantially over the break even mark of £90,114,947 to bother.

Imagine if somebody else won, which is an increased probability given the higher the jackpot the greater the number of tickets/combinations have been bought, not worth the risk.
