there was a report in the Daily Mail about how German Chancellor Angela Merkel is telling people that it is vital to keep any other members of the European Union from leaving…
Mrs Merkel said the EU needs to stop other countries following Britain out of the door amid market fears that the bloc is ‘no longer governable’ after Brexit. The German Chancellor told her conservative party board in a conference call that it was necessary to prevent other European Union members going down the same path as Britain. Good luck to all the other countries, I hope you can make a run for it before it's to late. |

EU Army set to be agreed TODAY – and BRITAIN will foot the £420m-a-year bill..
THE EU will today ratify the creation of a continent wide super army that will be up and running next year – and blame BREXIT for its creation. Brussels politicians convened in the French city of Strasbourg to thrash out the plans that will cost taxpayers' £420m-a-year. They will vote on the issue to establish an "EU-wide system for the coordination of rapid movement of defence forces personnel" across Europe later today. If agreed Britain will not only be forced to foot the bill because it is timetabled for before the triggering of Article 50, but it will also be legally drawn into it. And bizarrely the EU claims it needs to make a position of European Defence Minister and roll out a massive army because of BREXIT. It states: "At a time when public support for the EU is being called into question in some Member States, defence and security is an area where the individual and collective benefits of more Europe can be easily demonstrated, especially regarding the likely challenges to EU’s standing as a strategic actor following Brexit." The report demands the EU bankroll the initiative with an immediate £76million for 'preparatory action on EU defence research' starting in 2017. - Express today. http://www.express.co.uk/news/politics/734711/EU-army-agreed-strasbourg-defence-Britain-pays-bill-blame-Brexit-article-50-NATO-SHAPE This Army is exactly for the purpose of keeping control over EU members and people. May won't activate article 50. This is globalism fighting back and it's not good. |

sounds great
is this why we have all the putin missile stories at the mo if trumpy is not so keen on nato we might need it then again if we have trident why not flog a few spares to the gernans ? should pay our contribution nicely, or as a sort of divorce settlement for brexit |
|
By:
To be fair both us and the USA have said we're not interested in anyone else, while Russia are moving their missiles ever westwards. If I was in any of the Eastern European countries I'd be desperate for a show of resolve from the likes of France and Germany in standing up to their threats. Good on em.

If May had triggered Article 50 we would have saved paying the £420m-a-year to the EU.. marvellous.

We live in such enlightened times you would think mankind would learn from history and give war one big massive swerve, we shouldn't be needing superstates army's in this day and age, maybe one day the world will advance to that point, Iceland have no army though.
|
|
By:
Iceland wouldn't be the biggest prize on earth tbf, someone more likely to target the chain of shops.
|
|
By:
You'd think strategically Iceland could be quite handy. The western seaboard must be well within range of ballistic missiles from there. Plus if you fired back you'd probably set off the volcano and shut down northern Europe for a month or two.

A bad time to announce all this if true, unless you've backed Le Pen, surely some votes in it for her.
|
|
By:
what is interesting is they are demanding that each country contributes 2% of its GDP to this federal army, yet only 4 of them are contributing the same 2% that is required by NATO. It took the krauts 80 years but they finally got control of Europe.

Iceland are under the protective umbrella of the US who had a base there until a decade ago, and are still under US military protection.

![]() gotta laugh. another flipside is the royal navy need more ships....not sure of the amounts quoted but two battleships were said to cost over a billion. would e less if we could get them built cheaper no doubt...and having to import steel with tariffs imposed isnt gonna help either....the tax payer foots the ill. now if we are out of any european security force...we go alone. we are gonna need a bigger fleet.... |
