A petition for the government to hold a second referendum on Brexit has proved so popular it temporarily crashed the parliament website.

Within just hours of the historic Leave vote, it had already gained 60,000 signatures and counting.

The petition states:

EU Referendum Rules triggering a 2nd EU Referendum
We the undersigned call upon HM Government to implement a rule that if the remain or leave vote is less than 60% based a turnout less than 75% there should be another referendum.

What a horrid f***ing breed,

I say give them as much stick as possible, as they don't really do comedy either.

Been stories of Remainers feeling ashamed to be British today after we turned our
back on europe Laugh

If they can get 17,410,743 signatures then they might have a case

Parliament considers all petitions that get more than 100,000 signatures for a debate.
Report Ron-Russian • June 24, 2016 8:26 PM BST
You can just imagine them all making themselves busy passing the message on to
let people know to sign it!!!
Report Make my hay • June 24, 2016 8:35 PM BST
yeah it's already got 177,694 signatures, but I can't see that the Government will take it any further. Cameron would have known about that rule before he quit.
Report scandanavian_haven • June 24, 2016 8:35 PM BST
The last 5 general elections have been less than 75%, the last 4 were less than 67%, this referendum built as the biggest of our lifetime and was 72%.

You're not going to get 75% turnout, it's more likely the turnout would be even lower than the 72% and then does the losing side keep asking for another election?

if it was feasible, the Prime Minister wouldn't have resigned.

The best we can do now, is make the best of the situation, although I highly anticipate the leaving process to be very long and drawn out for political reasons.

FFS 75% needed. What planet are these muppets on?

I wonder what % of those who signed this petition actually voted on Thursday. My guess is it will be under 75%.

Min turnout rules also give misleading results, as the "keep it as it is " side tells their supporters to stay at home.

But that doesn't seem to fit in with the rhetoric of 'old, racist, illiterate plebs.'

A second referendum on leaving the EU would result in a bigger vote for exit.

Now that everybody can see that Armageddon hasn't started, and even the CBI have gone back on their declaration that the UK would suffer outside of the union by declaring now that the UK will prosper outside of the EU, according to the Mail.
The German murmurings that they're eager to do a deal with the UK puts another scare from the remain brigade to bed.

No crisis budget from Osborne either.

They were only allowed to win if it was 1-0. Also only 35,000 in the stadium and Jack Wilshere's parting was n't straight...
