I don't collect stamps myself. But I saw a really interesting short film in 1984?
about the one cent magenta stamp and it's history. It was made in the 70's.
lasted about twenty minutes, thought it was Canadian, canada film board? maybe.
Cannot find a trace of it anywhere? on google.

Does anybody know the title/series?

saw recently the stamp sold for nine million? owned by a guy in jail.

it features in two hollywood films - wiki - but no mention of the short film.
narrator had a base voice - thought orson welles had something to do
with it? but my imagination i think. memory playing tricks.

bbc probably - filler in between programs?
