probably because the vote would be a landslide vote to have them removed, they only seem popular because of the sheer amount of over the top coverage BBC and Sky give them, and tourists visiting Buckingham Palace and turning out for public events like today.

Most British people couldn't give a monkeys and would prefer their tax money was spent elsewhere then on these freeloaders.

A vote on the monarchy would be overwhelmingly in favour of keeping it. Even the Aussies couldn't bring themselves to get rid of her when they had the chance.

The Queen costs the taxpayers of this country approximately 1/350th of what we spend on foreign aid (£36M v £12.2BN).

do as you are told peasant.

i was wondering why their isn't other families out there trying to knock off the royal family and become the sovereigns.
History shows it happening all the time. Stewarts/Plantagenets/Tudors etc. the barons trying to position their guys in the royal court.
I guess it's been cemented now with media... papers and tv. It's become sanitized.

Have a battle with all the royal contenders - ten in each side and the winner gets the throne for 100 years.

call it - it's a royal knockout?
