that is horrific ,but yu can see the issue is the collapsed barrier ,look around and there is space to the back and right ,that enclosure was a death trap ,they found newspapers that were over fifty years old inside the collapsed barriers ,they had been painted 9 times or something but painted over the rust to the corrosion could not be seen ,they had been modified and modified and buit removed so the structure of them was weakened ,the fence at front should have been on the outside but prob fitted from inside for cosmetic reasons .Lack of maintenance and proper oversight ,no one looking at the big H+S aspect ,football authorities only interested in cash .
All so easily avoidable ,no single thing caused the barriers to collapse ,it was a build up of multiple failures and the fact the ground had no current safety certificate was a smoking gun that has largely been ignored . To blame it all on one cop is wrong ,but seems that has what has occured here . Tragic as it was/is it was so easily avoidable ,bad enough them dodging the H+C side of the ground but to try and find scape goats makes it sickening ,yes the police were incompetant but the game should not have been allowed to be hosted at the venue . Greed a big factor ,FA have escaped ,Taylor did not even appear at inquest ,sick note . |
