Turkeys voting for Christmas comes to mind (not Turkey the country, just so you're not confused MT)

I think the vote on June 23rd will be Remain, there are more people who want to stick to what they know and what they can get out of it, i.e. businesses that trade with EU countries, employees whose jobs may be threatened with an out vote, and they imo outnumber those so concerned with immigration (that is the outs biggest selling point), but the interesting thing is, if England had been out of the EU since the day they joined (if that makes sense), the same thing would apply, it would be a remain vote, remain outside that is. People don't like change on a such a big scale.

Around 70% would vote to stay out.

its vote out now to prevent every increasing change becoming irreversible .
The EU is a something dressed up as something it is not and the lack of transparency is alarming . we can step off the train at the next designated stop in an orderly fashion and wave goodbye and wish them luck |

By:
this is actually a reaaly good point tree. with europe falling apart it seems unlikely many would want to join.

If we were out now I doubt we would vote to join
When we voted to join in 1973 it was called the common market, so we joined because we thought it would be good for business. I do not think anybody thought it would become the out of control monstrosity it is now, I do not think anybody voted for this. |

By:
Exactly if we were outsiders looking in as a reasonably prosperous country we would say no way.
Counties that would benefit from being members like Turkey would still join. |
|
By:
We never voted to join, the politicians took us in in 1973 and we had a vote in 1975 on whether to stay. If the vote was before we joined it might have been a different outcome, opinion was 3 to 1 against joining in 1971. It's a shame we cant leave now and see if the apocalypse comes and then vote on returning or not in a few years.

It probably would have been different if the vote had been taken in 1973 rather than 1975 but tbh it would have been much easier to get out in 75 than it is now ( and I intend to vote out just as I did in 1975 and for the same reasons but they probably look eccentric to a younger generation who mostly have little interest in democracy. )

The youngsters i know are all voting out and these are people who never normally vote. Vote leave and lump on
|
|
By:
Young Ones the wife works with have not got a clue which way to vote
as i would have been at that age.Which says voting age should be made higher rather than lower. |

By:
Yes please, all day long.
Vote life against death. |

We had a bit of industry on the early 1970's...the idea was that the common market would help it
We have pretty well none now ![]() This country has steadily declined economically since I left school in the 1960s. Since 1964 the population of the UK has grown by over 10 million people (18.7%). About half of this growth has occurred since 2001. ![]() It is not hard to see why we are in trouble. |

By:
We cannot control immigration form Europe unless we leave
|
|
By:
It was the expansion of the EU from 2001 which had done for us.
11 east European countries have joined...this is insanity ![]() One can see where the 5 million extra population we have has come from? |

Change is bad. It's safe to stay with what we know.

I'm out.

When so many other countries and multinational organisations try to tell me whats good for me I instinctively think Why are they so concerned about my welfare?
