Actually, there is something funny here. I can see why, historically, Black people might not have wanted to join the police whom they saw as the enemy but why not the fire brigade (or the ambulance service, come to that)?

I'd prefer it still more for employers to be able to employ people on merit, as opposed to their colour/gender/faith. I daresay that's too much to ask for in 'Progressive' Britain.

We are forever hearing that the current police force is "too white" and that it "does not represent the community it serves".

Here's one ethnic minority (soon-to-be-majority) police office who does however represent his 'community', and the outcome won't surprise anyone.
