Interesting that it was reported (not just by the BBC incidentally) as Austria avoiding an extreme right-wing leader as actually voting in an extreme left-wing one.
Dovetailing nicely with their subtle pro-EEC agenda. |

Phew. By the narrowest of margins Norbert Hofer, the presidential candidate of Austria’s far-right Freedom party (FPÖ), lost to Alexander Van der Bellen, the pro-refugee former leader of the country’s Green party. Polls suggested that the victor owed his win to his mostly young, urban and well-educated base. There was much in it to celebrate. Austria, a cradle of the continent’s far-right and at the forefront of the refugee crisis, had voted in a progressive, pro-refugee son of Estonian immigrants as its head of state. The candidate who had campaigned on what he called a “Muslim invasion” had lost.
taken from the Grauniad. This, more than anything else, is what irks. The problem is over, yaboosucks you racists lost, we won attitude. It does nothing to address the growing discontent, in fact quite the opposite, like taking a cattle prod to a sleeping bear. It is the left's intransigence in addressing its citizens' valid concerns that fuels the swing to extreme right wing politics. |

A good comment re Austrian election.
Pretty_Polly Before it mysteriously went down, the Austrian Interior Ministry website stated that the the (presumably then incomplete) postal vote was roughly 277,000 for Bellend and 257,000 to Hofer. That gave Hofer 2,195,719 votes overall, and Bellend 2,071,528 overall. Combined that's a total of 4,267,247 votes, with Hofer having about 51.45% of the vote. The final result was 2,223,258 to Hofer and 2,254,484 to Bellend. I make that a total of 4,477,742 votes. Subtract the earlier figure of 4,267,247 from the new 4,477,742 vote total, and we have an extra 210,495 postal votes added since the website mysteriously crashed. From the 210,495 extra votes, Hofer went from 2,195,719 to 2,223,258. Bellend went from 2,071,528 to 2,254,484. So form the last 210,495 postal votes counted, Hofer got just 27,539 votes and Bellend got 182,956, meaning Hofer got just 13% of the remaining 210,495 postal votes and Bellend 87%, in an election that until then was evenly split. If this is right, I call fraud. Posted by Pretty_Polly elsewhere |

Yesterday the BBC put up - 'Austrians reject right wing candidate.'
After then being widely ridiculed their later report had the headline - 'Austrian Green candidate wins by narrow margin.' ![]() |

No matter how you like it, Austria seems ****ed up now, across "classes" and so on. I'm sure "class warfare" is NOW a bad thing, if the grauniad detect left wing toss is on the wrong end of it? |

if the far right had won it would have made no odds anyway because Juncker says so................
Jean-Claude Juncker, the president of the European Commission, promised to exclude Norbert Hofer, the leader of Austria’s Freedom Party (FPÖ), from all EU decision-making if elected ahead of yesterday’s presidential vote. “There will be no debate or dialogue with the far-right,” the liberal bureaucrat told AFP. . http://www.breitbart.com/london/2016/05/24/eu-vows-use-new-powers-block-elected-far-right-populists-power/ now who says the EU is not a dictatorship? |

Well well electoral fraud detected in 94 of 117 regions.
Hofer should be awarded the election not have it rerun though. |
|
By:
There was no fraud detected. Formal mistakes were made, like counting too early. The formal mistakes were also made by members of Hofer's party.
