To me, it stands to reason that natural foods should be eaten and if you want to be healthy cut out processed foods. So, dairy, veg, fish, meat (not bacon or parma ham like) should all be ok.
I still don't buy the fruit is evil argument though. I know it contains sugar. But it's fruit. Maybe, we need the sugar really. As part of a normal balanced diet. |

I eat fruit everyday. Mainly berries, apples, oranges, kiwi fruit, mango and occasionally bananas.

Wise words Zorro
Banting (high fat / low carbs / low sugar) is the way forward. Imagine being encouraged to eat Pork Scratchings as a healthy snack! Works for me!! |

We've actually got a pop tart tree in our garden.

Pork Scratchings produce water retention due to high intake of salt.
So, if you feel bloated, reduce your salt intake. Agree with a heavy percentage intake of protein, but also try a period of not mixing any carbs with proteins, cut down the salt and hey presto. |

yes you should eat fruit if you enjoy it - it's fruit juice that contains the sugar load

I've been 'Banting' for 7 weeks now. Lost 9 pounds and am amazed by this way of eating!
It's not really about eating a lot of fat, just don't despise it. Enjoy it. The removal of bread, potatoes, rice and pasta is key. And of course sugar. Not all mammals eat the same things. We think that because we're humans we should eat a bit of everything. I'm not sure this is right, so I can see why fruit may not be brilliant for us. What's also clear as day and is in direct opposition to what we're told is that regular exercise does not lead to weight loss. As you exercise regularly, you get fit and more efficient. Therefore you burn less calories not more. We are designed for endurance. Hence we sweat more than our prey. We have this fantastic inbuilt cooling system that allowed us to out run animals, not by speed but endurance. |

Anyone see the woody allen film where he goes into the future(sleeper?)
The doctors who revived him are talking about diet. Woody's been revived. 1st doctor - has he asked for anything special? 2nd doctor - Yes this morning for breakfast, he requested something called Wheatgerm, organic honey and tiger's milk. 1st doctor - Ah yes, they believed they were charmed substances that contain life preserving substances? 2nd doctor - YOU MEAN.. there was no DEEP FAT no STEAK no CREAMPIES or HOT FUDGE. 1st doctor - Those were thought to be unhealthy..precisely the opposite of what we now know to be true. |

I'm either on a banting diet by accident, More freeform banting? or the paleo ?
I looked up Dr EriC Berg on youtube by accident after i discovered my left eye had been twitching too much. All down to diet. i was sensitive to drinking fruit juice. especially orange juice. The guy explained about Acidosis, why the western diet is gearing you towards being diabetic. What the body needs to work right. He's ninety percent right in what he says. But don't go crazy on the green stuff, too much of a good thing is a bad thing too. LITTLE AND OFTEN. seems best. Talks about too much protein goes for the kidneys. best to eat coldcuts for small amounts. To activate fat burning hormone. Fish ideal. muscle builders go overboard with protein and risk kidney surgery. |
|
By:
you are a sketch show character waiting to happen zorro. Is Dr berg selling anything by any chance?
|
|
By:
sure - sounds like a shill but gives good dietery advice. He tries to sell you vitamins and the like. but you get all the necessary 'rare' vitamins in Sea salt and Food if you know where to look. SO you don't have to buy from him. It's lazy not to look around. (pink salt has over 90 trace minerals that are beneficial) has iodine that prevents cists and goiter.
