My mate died of cancer, his parents turned to the same god that afflicted him.
Maybe if they followed a different god then he wouldn't have got the disease? |
|

People always assume if there is a God, which I doubt, that he is a force for good and not a malevolent force. Given the events we see every day not just from mankind but "natural" ( God created) disasters the evidence points to the contrary.

my biggest problem with the believers is when they say stuff like "god has not taken him yet" as the cancer sufferer twitches in agony in bed as the disease ravages his body.......or when someone survives a car crash but is left mentally and physically incapacitated and spends years of intolerable suffering....they come out with some god nonsense
you see i am talking about this as i am very peed off that euthanasia is not available for people who are suffering.....the god people have gotten their way on this.........only the roots of some dumb religion can justify prolonging a sick persons agony.......THEY GET TO DECIDE THAT A VERY SICK PERSON CANNOT DIE..........if they are in this situation and want to continue, thats fine.........but why tell other people what to do. |

BTW I've got myself involved with a Church. I'm putting in raised beds and growing veg for myself and the community.
I didn't realise how powerful Churches are. It's a local food bank and I asked how they got their funds. I give a fiver a week voluntary but the minister says there are people who donate £10PM, £100PM and some 4 figures PM. Scary indeed. My mate (who I got the contact through) knows I'm an Atheist but I've yet to tackle the minister over the subject. I know I'll never be a converted. Don't expect me to preach to Chit Chat. |

"Converted"...like an old fashioned gas cooker? The bible tells believers to "preach the good news" but NEVER tells them to "convert" anybody, because they can't...Jesus talks about this when he says "You must be born again," meaning that the Spirit of God (that is, Jesus) testifies to the spirit of man, so it's God who "converts" from Death to Eternal Life, for a new creation, devoid of pain, suffering and death. This is a HOPE, growing like a sapling...
Obviously, we live in a fallen world. The very air, the soil, the water, etc. is polluted by disease and death. Jesus died a terrible death and suffered more than anyone, not just physically, but spiritually, as the sin of the world, through all ages, past, present and future, was laid on him. There's a film out now called RISEN, starring Joseph Fiennes as a Roman Tribune who is stoically fighting his way through a dreadful world, as he longs for peace and a world without pointless suffering and death. It's well worth a watch. The Roman Tribune is searching for the body of a dead man... |

there was a guy called jesus, but he did not turn water into wine, he did not cure diseases and he did not rise from the dead........how anyone can believe this nonsense is beyond me.
|
|
By:
The Bible is a conglomeration of stories and verses translated from century old fables and Jewish scriptures, put together many years after the death of Jesus.
To say the Bible is the word of a god is a joke. If there is a sureme being, he's not a Christian, Jew, Moslem or any other faith but a benign being who has nothing to do with humans. |
|
By:
If he was about now he'd make a fortune on e-bay with that turning
water into wine trick. Saying that there's probably people selling water as wine on ebay, so not really impressive that one |

In answer to the OP. You`re here for your souls development and to learn. I`ll not ramble.

the god believers will ask me where did planet earth come from.........i say i dont know kid...........and neither do u.
heres another thing........if a son of god comes to earth and performs miracles and eradicates some nasty diseases........I WILL BELIEVE........we have i phones now...... |

By:
If there is a supreme being, he's not a Christian, Jew, Moslem or any other faith but a benign being who has nothing to do with humans.
Almost there. |
|
By:
As for giving to churches, etc., I don't necessarily do that...strange interventions have happened twice to STOP me giving to so-called Christian churches...but when I'm listening...and have let the mazonga go cheerfully to the right, needful people, it has come flying back in multiples of what I've given...once gave away nice pastels that I'd collected over years...didn't want to give them away even though I wasn't using them...next day, a fellow artist (totally unconnected) gave me about £350 worth of brand new Rowney oil paint as he was switching to another brand...scary indeed...
I was thinking...what does he get? Does somebody leave him a Dulux paint factory? |

"If there is a supreme being, he's not a Christian, Jew, Moslem or any other faith but a benign being who has nothing to do with humans."
School of Alan Partridge : "God is an intelligent gas." ----------- God? : Go away you pesky humans! I want NOTHING to do with you! |

"And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying: “Behold, the dwelling place of God is with man, and He will live with them. They will be His people, and God Himself will be with them as their God. He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and there will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the former things have passed away.” And the One seated on the throne said, “Behold, I make all things new.” " (Book of Revelation).

YEAH GOD WAS HAVING HIS BREAKFAST AND SAID "GIVE THAT YOUNG WOMAN WHO IS IN THE PRIME OF HER LIFE, A STROKE"....... |

You seen to defend religion at every opportunity.

The Quran should be abolished Ovalman
they make excuses that the what seem violent verses have been take out of context. but seeing as muhammad was a barbaric warlord it sounds a true account of his behaviour to me, the only false bit is there was a god involved advising him all this |

Here's a question for defenders of Glentoran FC - are they a SECTARIAN club?
Only enquiring, like...from the outside...you know the sort of problems caused by religion... ![]() |
|
By:
Only, I...I turned up at the pub...and...I was wearing the green n white hoops, like, and...the Glentoran fans pelted me with whelks and stale nuts...
...then a few months later, as an experiment, I wore a retro Rangers top and...and the fans bought me a pint of strong beer, an undiluted Famous Grouse drink and two packets of pork scratchings... |
|
By:
Glentoran FC are an all encompassing club in a strongly protestant area but I drink with a guy from the New Lodge who is a supporter but a known Nationalist. People really don't give a flying fluck anymore. We can debate and argue but we don't really care, we all support the same team. Many of our supporters were in the Cliftonville end for our recent European decider. We both hate Linfield more than each other btw.
|
|
By:
Phew...was a bit worried there...but as long as you're hating SOMEBODY, I guess that is OK.
|
|
By:
And if you ever want to come back Velasquez wearing your Celtic top, PM me and I'll make sure you get a warm welcome.
|
|
By:
Fookin' 'eck..."all encompassing"..."New Lodge"..."known nationalist"..."hate Linfield"...do they have a trapdoor and noose at the local supporters' club...??

OK, Ovalman - will do......hope Partick Thistle do a grey away shirt...

You are the god defender on every thread Velasquez, you deserve a medal. god bless you, whichever one you support.

Hee hee...ta...God bless YOU!
Kinda disenchanted with football to be sure...it's all $££££$£$£$ now...and Johan Cruyff died and the Guardian printed a big photo of Rob Rensenbrink in tribute...what's the point? ![]() Heard a good story on Radio Scotland on Saturday - Archie Macpherson, Scottish journalist and commentator... |
|
By:
Michael Parkinson wrote a book about George Best...Parky and Archie are waiting for George at a luxury Scottish hotel and Archie says, "Johan Cruyff is better than George Best..." - so Parkinson goes apesh1t crazy and never talks to Archie again- "Cruyff is gutless," says Parky, "his whole playing style is to avoid confrontation...George Best never shirked a tackle in his life ya bassa
..." etc etc.Archie totally shocked at the venom coming his way...it's only fitba' ![]() Cruyff for me too... ![]() |

I was at the NI v Halland match that featured GB and Cruyff but the only thing I remember is sitting on my brothers shoulder and gurning when he set me down...
We've went off the OT that an imaginary god creates the diseases to kill us so we can worship him! Thank go for that. |

George Best was dead proud that he nutmegged Neeskens and Cruyff...but Holland came out better over the two legs...not a fan of Jim Baxter either...
