You do realise Ron that if you insult this man, you are placing your own life in danger
Remember Salmon Rushdie, attempts have been made to kill him On that basis I will apologise for my rather pathetic attempt at humour The problem as I see it we are living in a World which is moving towards the extremes on both sides, which is sad I remember in the 1960/70's we were far more tolerant of different views than we are now |

I heard he was a warrior with a large sword that chopped people's heads off? Then justified it with a book. Why didn't Jesus do that? or Buddha?

As I understand it :
The angel Gabriel met an illiterate goat herd who was fasting in a cave in the desert and gave the guy lots of messages and thats when much of today's trouble started If you are a Muslim you literally believe in angels.( and Adam and Eve) What I don't get is why a 6th century BC religion with a belief in Angels is causing so much misery - why are different muslim factions killing themselves and each other? It is quite sad bewildering and inconvenient - I like travelling - one of my favourite restaurants in Marrakesh was blown to pieces by a bomb a year or so back ; Tunisia has had gunmen on the beaches; Egypt is a mess;Turkey is under siege and I'd like to visit Jerusalem but keep prevaricating about it. |

it's a power struggle lmfao.
The quantum leap in communications in the internet age has enabled the rapid spread of propaganda, the life blood of terrorism. Religion is a convenient and extraordinarily powerful tool for inspiring loyalty and hatred of others outside the tribe. |
|
By:
Religion can be used for good purposes too of course and sometimes is. It all hinges on the favoured interpretation of "God's word" by his lieutenants the clergy.

As he grew up, he became known to be truthful, honest, trustworthy, generous, and sincere. He was so trustworthy that they called him the Trustworthy.
The Prophet Muhammad was a perfect example of an honest, just, merciful, compassionate, truthful, and brave human being. Though he was a man, he was far removed from all evil characteristics and strove solely for the sake of God and His reward in the Hereafter there you have it black & white ![]() |

He was a very established trader and merchant, as well as being well travelled and there are plenty of suggestions in the hadiths to indicate that he could write. Again, if you sceptical that the Quran was not the word of god, and we were to ascribe his visions to a form of epilepsy, we must ask where Mohammad got so much information, that is remarkably similar to Judeo Christian scripture, from. It suits the narrative of the miracle of the Quran that he couldn't read or write. Again, the central point of Islam, is that the Quran is the unalterable word of god. What was deemed to be so offensive about the satanic verses is that they tell a story that suggests Mohammad edited what went in the Quran. This is a big no-no as it calls into question the most sacred assumption. |

I'm not sure that Imams are illiterate, some may be. One of their jobs, among others, is to spread the reach and power of Islam and to be fair, they seem to be making a good job of it. |

When people like Blair say we are now multicultural. When we allow immigration we don't only get the bits we like. We get the whole package. It is such a pity some of our leaders do not see this. We mock our own Religion all the time, but we mock this bloke at our peril. |

After satirical cartoons published in France
On 7 January 2015 at about 11:30 local time, two brothers, Saïd and Chérif Kouachi, forced their way into the offices of the French satirical weekly newspaper Charlie Hebdo in Paris. Armed with assault rifles and other weapons, they killed 11 people and injured 11 others in the building. After leaving, they killed a French National Police officer outside the building. The gunmen identified themselves as belonging to the Islamist terrorist group Al-Qaeda's branch in Yemen, who took responsibility for the attack. Several related attacks followed in the Île-de-France region, where a further five were killed and 11 wounded. |

Some of those cartoons were quite humorous, but I think the joke got lost on the Muslims.

There was a Muslim woman on the chase today. When she got her offer's from the chaser she stuck with what she had because she "did not gamble" fair enough. Then a question about tubthumping a well known pop song by chumbawumba (SP) asked which was not mentioned lager, tequila or whisky,She didn't know because she "didn't drink" quite ironic

FP the Muslim bird might be ignorant on gambling & boozing, but for sure the men of that religon do as they please. Go in any bookies in a northern working class town n theres a queue of them sp unking on the machines.

Women have choice in our society...so what proof have you that they are brainwashed and do not act out of choice?
|
|
By:
My only concern is with the Burqa , because in our society it is normal for people to show their face.
It is not unreasonable to ask British Muslim women not to wear this as we are not a Muslim Theocracy, also no Sharia law, only secular law for the same reason. |
|
By:
My problem with the Burqa is that it's one sided. Surely the men should also cover their faces. Or do women have no sexual drive and see men as handsome?
|
|
By:
Muslim men should wear Burqa's as well
...well it is a solution I supposeI think Muslim's in our society are obligated to live by our laws and rules....as it is our country not their country. Every time we adapt ourselves to suit them we create a bigger rod for our own backs. They must adapt to our ways. In their own countries they can do what they want as far as I am concerned, but not in ours. If we visit someone else's house we abide their house rules In our own house visitors have to abide by our own house rules It is no different |
