Baroness Cox is one of the greats in my opinion. She's done some excellent work over the years. Treated shamefully by the Conservatievs due to her Eurosceptic stance.

She really is a voice of reason over the treatment of women within Islam. She also has faced danger in Sudan many times..

you can't do anything about large parts sharia law which cover civil matters. people are allowed to settle civil disputes outside of court.

the issue is with education and support. if muslim women understood that their interests were better represented in the UK's civil courts and if they were proactively supported by social services, there might be some more progress.

i still think the most important thing we can do to undermine all religions is to ban all faith schools in this country. we need to spend as much time as possible inform young girls brought up in muslim families that their country values them a great deal more than their religion does.

10 or 20 children isn't the problem per se. It's the expectation that someone else is going to put clothes on their back and food in their belly.

I struggle with DStyle's view because that mindset involves curtailing facets of our traditional way of life. Something which wouldn't be countenanced if the boot was on the other foot. I'm afraid I take the Trump line that if you have a problem with a number of people from a certain religion then it shouldn't be everyone else who suffers.

The problem with faith schools is that the liberal approach is to say all faiths are equal and contribute the same to wider society.

I will argue to my grave that Christianity has served the UK and the world very well, especially in the last 400 years.

Bizarrely, the liberals who want to give equal status to Muslims are the ones who most value the reforms of Wilberforce, Shaftesbury etc. Someone like Baroness Cox should be their hero but sadly they probably view her as a radical...
